Maruti Suzuki Ignis Diesel is discontinued as of now. Dealerships are not taking new bookings of Ignis Diesel as of now
Maruti Suzuki Ignis Diesel Production as per Dealer Sources is been discontinued
The Dealerships are not taking any new bookings for Ignis Diesel in
» Manual Transmission
» AMT Automatic
It seems that Maruti Suzuki Initial Product Line up -
1. S Cross - The First Product which was launched, was priced too high and Maruti Suzuki had then offered in Steep Discounts, later on the pricing was corrected and 1.6 DDIS Diesel Engine was discontinued
2. Baleno - Yet going strong - the only product in Nexa Line up which is continuing strong
3. Ignis - In Diesel was launched in Delta, Zeta, Alpha where On Road prices starts above Rs 7 Lakh and ranges to Rs 9 Lakh+ for Diesel AMT, which consumers did not like same for the premium pricing. Infact, Maruti Suzuki did not introduced Sigma Diesel Variant in Ignis at time of launch
Although, Ciaz is moved from Regular Maruti Suzuki Dealerships to Nexa - but of the 3 core original product - it seems that Maruti Suzuki despite of over 3 Decades of Experience in Indian Passenger car market was unable to price S Cross (when launched in 2015), and later on Ignis
Due to same - Ignis Diesel seems now axed, as of the 4000 units been sold - around 80%+ sales is coming for the Petrol Variant.
This Incident certainly shows 3 Important things
1. Diesel Cars Demand in Hatchback, Sedan Segment is on new lows. Not only Ignis Diesel, but across other OEM - Diesel Car demand is shrinking
2. Pricing yet remains a very important force, however good the product is, reliable is, premium features - it ends down to pricing the product well
3. Nexa Network remains heavily skewed to 2/3rd of Sales coming from Baleno and 1/3rd of Sales coming from Ignis, Ciaz and S Cross
