Maruti Suzuki Discontinued Celerio Diesel within 2 Years of its Launch. Poor Demand, High Discount led to Discontinuation
Maruti Celerio was launched way back in Feb 2014 in Petrol - Manual, AMT and CNG Fuel and instant became a super success
Buoyed with Success, MSIL launched Celerio Diesel in 2015 with all 800cc, 2 Cylinder diesel Engine. Pitched as Best Fuel Efficient Diesel Car in most Affordable Price, Maruti Suzuki was anticipating an unprecedented demand for this Affordable Diesel Car
However - due to Smaller Engine with lower Power - there were Vibrations, Coarse Engine Sound and relative poor Pickup and Mid Range. End result - the Fuel Efficient Spacious Car end up with few takers for the car. The Demand of Celerio continues in Petrol, CNG but for Diesel - it never picked up
So much so that Maruti was offering in almost Rs 1 Lakh Discount in November 2016 and Rs 80K Discount in December 2016 and January 2017 to clear off Old Stock of MY 2016. But with changing preference of Indian consumers towards Styling, Power Performance - this Smaller Engine was having few takers.
End result - in less than 2 Years of Launch of Celerio Diesel - its reached dead end and now been discontinued by Maruti Suzuki. Though it was expected that Maruti Suzuki will discontinue in Celerio Diesel as published in report on :- Cars Models to be Discontinued
But so early that the Model could not even complete its 2nd Anniversary !!

» Remove Celerio Diesel Specs & Prices from Maruti Suzuki Website. Specifications removed from Official Website of Maruti Suzuki. Now only the K10 Petrol Engine Specs are been updated in the site which is Powering Manual, CNG and AMT Auto Gear Shift
» Consumer Offers also are withdrawn from February. Nothing mentioned about Celerio Diesel in Internal Communication list of Consumer Offers
and Dealers have also almost liquidated off stock by passing on high Discounts on the Car since November 2016.
With the Capacity been free by discontinuing Celerio Diesel and Ritz Model - its expected that the production capacity will be used for Maruti Ignis Diesel which the current rave among Passenger Car Buyers or Baleno Diesel.
