I need to know about the dependability on the DCT of the new Venue.
What’s the breakdown frequency heating issue of this ? The cost of repair.

Dear Anupam,

Hi, See Dual Clutch gearbox are definite expensive to repair if they develop a snag outside warranty
Cost can easily go upwards to 60K to 70K for replacement of dual clutch, flywheel in a car like Venue, and for estimate can go beyond a Lakh of rs in VW & Jeep. If there appears a transmission issue (and issue arises in out of warranty car - replacement cost can go in few lakhs too)

But - the way DCA / DCT / DSG Gearbox are tuned up in present markets - chances of issues are pretty low
Having said same - DCT is not considered ideal for anyone having strict 95% usage in city bumper to bumper traffic as long crawls in bumper to bumper traffic can definite cause some overheating - still some of the best practices if adopted can actually end up with trouble free experience including -

a. Avoid Driving Car with Half Brakes. If you driving in Bumper to Bumper Traffic - best way is to keep distance with a car in front so as to avoid Half Brakes.

b. Avoid Frequent Sudden Acceleration with Full Acceleration Response as this may also cause in overheating

c. At Red Light stops for more than 30 Seconds. Important is to Slot Gear in Neutral at Idling instead of applying Brakes and slotting Gear in Drive Mode.

d. While Driving Car on Hills, if one tries to hold vehicle using slight Accelerator response then Transmission system can well lead to higher temperature

e, Last but not the least. Ensure Timely replacement of All Fluids at regular Interval as any delay will lead to molecular properties of Fluid been breakup

You can very well rely on Hyundai DCT experience as what offered in not only international range but in Indian versions including
> I20 N Line
> Venue
> Creta
> Verna
> Alcazar

Tune up done are excellent and if one follow in best practices - chances are that wont even get a single transmission issue in entire lifetime of vehicle. Having said same - still for peace of mind is recommended to get in 7 yr warranty on car as what Hyundai offering (3 yr standard + 4 yr Extended Warranty) which will ensure long lasting peace of mind to have transmission covered under OEM Warranty

7 yr / 1 Lakh Kms plan would cost anywhere around Rs 25,000 or so but offers significant peace of mind for coverage against unexpected repairs.

So - suggestion would be to go ahead with Venue DCT, if you do not have maximum usage in b2b traffic but yes follow in best practices of drive and avail in 7 yr / 1 Lakh Kms warranty plan for long lasting peace of mind.

Should help !!
