Hello,

Query:
City - Mumbai.
Family - 3 members
Monthly usage - approx 100 kms

We have a Ford Figo of 2010, sparingly used around 79000 kms only. But need to change now.

Looking for a good reliable car with good safety & build quality, spacious interiors and good service response. Budget around 14 L - 16 L. Preferred Automatic.

Mainly for local and sometimes on highways for recreational outings.

Have seen many cars and shortlisted Honda City V CVT, Grand Vitara Zeta Manual and Creta S / S (O) Manual.

Not much interested in gimmicky features like Sunroof.

Though liked Honda City V CVT, but bit confused if Honda will last in India as we have already faced this issue with Ford. Also find under thigh support bit less in Honda City. Same with Elevate.

Please suggest if any of the above or any other suggestions you may have.

Thanks & Regards
Sumeet.

Dear Sumeet Sahab,

As i understand you have
a. Limited usage need in your next new car
b. Reliability, Safety, Space, After sales plays an important role
c. Primarily for local usage

Theres nothing better than Hyundai Creta S Petrol at the moment with strong reasona

1. Very Plush ride quality. One of the best comfort oriented ride can experience in 20 Lakh Budget
The way suspension tuned for city use, light steering (especially shift from Hydraulic steering of Figo to light electric Steering), light clutch and way car soaks in slight bad city roads will love in all round drive experience for day to day city use

2. Excellent Seating Comfort with Plush comfort oriented seats for 2nd row
As a family car if you like to drive will love in all round seating comfort

3. Fully Loaded Suite of Modern age Features in this S Variant including
> Push Button Ignition,
> Cruise Control,
> Automatic Climate Control with Eco Coating and Rear Seat AC Vent,
> Rear View Camera, with Driver Rear View Monitor
> Quad Beam LED Headlight
> 8" Touchscreen Music System with Wireless Android Auto, Apple Car Play, 4 Speaker, 2 Tweeter and Steering Mounted Control
along with 6 Airbags, ABS EBD, ESP, Highline TPMS, Defogger, Fog Light, Speed Sensing Door Lock, Impact Door Unlock Feature

4. Highly Reliable Product and competent after sales service experience.
Even warranty can be extended to 7 yrs on demand. Hyundai is fair strong brand in India and expect to only grow with market in coming years with very high resale too.

To view - the all round experience as what will get in New Creta especially for limited usage, comfort, space, features, lifestyle experience with full suite of active and passive safety gets very best with New Creta S Petrol.

Dear Gagan ji,

Thanks for the revert. We also totally agree on Hyundai reliability as a brand and after sales service, but just to share our feedback on Creta S test drive.

We experienced a bit of a body roll (akin to boat ride) at the back seat, which was not there in Kia Seltos or Elevate (but Elevate ruled out for other reasons).

Also, besides local drives, we also use highways / expressways extensively for long drives ranging from 3 - 5 hours every month. Would you recommend Creta S Manual for highways also, in terms of safety (build quality), ride quality ?

Regards

Hello Sumeet ji,

It goes on like that - OEM tune there cars with different levels of handling, drive experience
The Cars in SUV Segment of what you look out for like
> Hyundai Creta
> Honda Elevate
> Maruti Grand Vitara
> Kia Seltos

are rather hatchbacks with beefed up ground clearance and tuned suspension.
To add on - suspension & handling is
a. Either kept on excessive soft note like Hyundai Creta
b. More Mature note like Honda Elevare, Maruti Grand Vitara
c. Sportier Note like Koa Seltos
d. Stiffer note like Skoda Kushaq or compact SUV like Sonet

Cars with soft suspension, light steering are choice for those who seek maximum comfort, plush ride for day to day city use. But, flip side for soft tuned suspension cars with with raised Ground clearance, taller design is indeed a bit of body roll

Cars with Mature suspension like Elevate, Grand Vitara performs decent well on high speed, ability to clear on city bad patch roads at ease but somehow misses

Cars with Sporty suspension like Seltos performs near best on corners, high speed dynamics and offers near best in class stable ride. But again misses on plush ride experience of city

Some stiffer suspension tune up cars like Skoda Kushaq offers best in class handling but lacks the comfort for those who maximum in city use

What Hyundai Creta feels like to be honest as a compact car like feel in drive with
a. Comfort
b. Features
c. Engine refinement
d. Light Steering

Hyundai Creta has near soft suspension across all cars - which is what tuned for comfort and adds on plush ride experience for day to day city use. However, flip side for soft tuned suspension cars with with raised Ground clearance, taller design is indeed a bit of body roll

But - kind of feel as referred for boat kind - possibly is slight too much of an exaggeration of this car.
I readlly dont know why you felt so - whether is experience of 15 yrs of Ford Figo or what - but yes i do admit cornering ability, handling of Elevate, Seltos, Kushaq definite feels an edge.

Still in between Seltos, Creta
a. For some one having maximum in city use and comfort apsect - Creta
b. For some one who loves high speed dynamics, more stable ride at corners, lesser body roll - Seltos

Additionally - seating comfort in Creta in terms of under-thigh support, all round space in terms of shoulder room edges in Creta.

In terms of Safety: There are 3 types of safe experience
a. Active and passive safety - which is like fully loaded in car including ABS, EBD, Good brakes, 6 Airbags, ESP, Highline TPMS
b. Controlled Speed drive - one need to have controlled speed drive with lane change approach, gap approach along with seat belts to have safe car
c. Build - thats subjective and questionable and definitely not the best - but then way Verna scored in 5 star and kind of active and passive safety suite (if not too much in build criteria etc but rather believe an all round safe car - can consider in Creta)

I still recommend to check out Creta if you have
> Majority of in city use
> Seek a Light Driven Steering car

3 to 5 hours of monthly drive on highway is pretty average and dont think would be a concern area for the car.

Should help !!
