Hello Gagan ji,

I am using a Ford eco-sport 2014, diesel model, manual transmission and due to new laws related to aging of vehicles in Delhi NCR, I will have to sell it off now. Please suggest a new car considering following pointers.
1. Budget Rs.15 lakhs
2. Body type SUV.
3. Fuel- Petrol
4. monthly running kilometers are less than 5000.
5. Mostly city driving
6. Will prefer a powerful engine for ease of driving.
7. Will prefer an automatic this time.
8. Not interested in sunroof.
9. Will prefer good interiors and a good sound system.
10. Preference will be for a less noisy car with good air-conditioning system.
11. I am likely to retain this car for next 10 years.

please suggest

With kind regards
Neeraj Jain
12. I would like to add that the car will be used for only 2 passengers in front seat including the driver, most of the times.

Dear Neeraj ji,

Greetings !!
Although for need as specified - Maruti Fronx Alpha Turbo Automatic can be one meeting need but is not recommended as
a. This 1 Litre Engine with 99 BHP Power and 147 NM Torque is a downgrade
b. This Automatic unit feels slow and also when accelerate hard from initial gears feels laggy and slow
c. Lacks the steering feedback and handling

Considering Budget - best buy for your need would be Hyundai Venue N Line N8 Automatic with reasons

a. As you experienced Ecosport in past - this N Line Edition comes with tuned suspension which delivers superior handling experience and
b. Despite a 3 cylinder engine - NVH levels are well contained. 1 Litre Engine delivers 120 PS Power and 172 NM Torque in DCT
c. Although has slight lag at lower end but car holds gear well for quick acceleration response if revv hard and you can also choose in Sports mode to get the best from revv friendly performance
d. Impressive interiors in Black and red stitches, steering wheel layout (with different one as against in regular Venue) and overall handling in terms of steering wheel feedback, tuned suspension you will love in ride
e. Hyundai Reliability is second to none and now offered with upto 7 yr warranty (on additional payment basis) ensuring best long term reliability in DCT
f. Decent Infotainment experience with 4 speakers and 2 tweeter
g. In terms of safety features - loaded with 6 Airbags, ESP and all 4 disc brakes

Somehow sunroof is still there but can keep it closed if not wish to use, but overall appeal of this car is pretty impressive for fun to drive
Have test drive to experience as is one which can be near perfect for need.

Thanks

Dear Gagan ji,

Please advise on following two variables:
(1) Hyundai Venue doesn’t feel spacious. Can you recommend me a little more spacious SUB?
(2) If I decide to go for manual transmission instead of automatic, what would be a recommendation?
Thanks

Hello,

Pls check out

1. Honda Elevate V CVT - Except Mileage a great buy for 4 member family. Do note that Honda CVT is a Naturally aspirated petrol engine - is not as quick as turbo one but not weak one too - this 1.5 Ivtec is a gem of engine in for city performance.

2. VW Taigun Highline in Manual Transmission - As you experienced Ecosport in past - clutch has slight longer travel range but in peppy, impressive pickup, handling. AC is slight noisier and minor rattles but not a deal breaker.

Should help !!

Hi, I had a test drive of all the vehicles today and I liked the driving experience of Hyundai Venue N Line N8 automatic and Taigun Highline MT. I have decided to go for an automatic and hence will prefer Venue.

Since, I am not very enthusiastic about sunroof, would it be more advisable to go for a lower variant?

Please suggest

Hello,

Indeed can consider in Venue N6 DCT and save on 1 Lakh by ignoring few features ( Dual Cam Dashcam, Rear Center Seat Armrest with Cup Holder, 4 Way Adjustable Electric Driver Seat, 2 Step Recline Rear Seat, 60:40 Split Rear Seat, Bluelink Connectivity)

But lower variant too is available with Electric Sunroof

If dont wish to go for N Line altogether (you will miss on tuned suspension and steering in regular Venue) - in that case Venue S Option DCT would be available at further 1.5 Lakh lesser and even lesser features

So recommended is minimum Venue N Line N6 DCT to get the best.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am inclined for Hyundai N Line Venue Petrol only. However, on checking with the dealer, I am given to understand that N8 version now comes with ADAS feature and not dash cam. I am not aware how good or useful the ADAS system is. Please review your suggestion based on this new information.

Hello,

Hyundai Venue comes with Level 1 ADAS which has Autonomous emergency brake which again make sense as preventing collision but rest
> Lane assist with departure warning
> Driver Attention Warning
> Attention Warning
> High beam assist
> Collission warning

are more of of attention features and been Level 1 lacks the signature USP of :- Adaptive cruise - which is extreme useful while moving on highway, expressway as car will automatically adjust speed basis brakes / speed of car at front.

So these are more of attention assist system and been Level 1 with more of alerts nature and basis fact that your usage to be maximum in city condition - if you are confident of drving style - can give it a pass.

Sorry for this last-minute addition, due to hot and humid condition in Delhi and NCR throughout most of the year, I would be interested in front ventilated seats as well.

Shall be grateful, if you could suggest by considering this point as well.

Hello,

In defined budget - Cooled Ventilated Front Seats is available in

a. Tata Nexon Fearless Plus MT - which will cost almost 15 Lakh on road delhi. if seek DCA automatic you may be required to increase budget by 2 Lakh further.

b. Kia Sonet GTX Plus DCT Automatic - here post discounts will likely be available in 15 Lakh

c. Maruti XL6 Alpha Plus MT - will almost cost 15 Lakh On Road

So if you seek this feature as need - have to check above 3 cars.

Hi Gagan Ji,
I have check all the compact SUVs also checked Kushaq but have shortlisted Nexon facelift Pure variant, now the confusion is Petrol or Diesel as Petrol as my running is Appx. 1200- 1500 kms monthly and more in city. Nexon Petrol has lower mileage and Diesel is costly by almost 1.5 L. Pls advise.
I am inclined towards the diesel variant as this might be our last shot at diesel cars in India before the ban and I am fan of Ford's 1.5 L diesel engine.
