I am planning to buy new car. I am planning sale my old car. I have come to know that even if we exchange our car at company showroom even they sell it with local car market dealers . Is it safe to Sell car directly with local car dealer. If we have proper sale documents. Regards

Hello Harseerat ji,

Greetings !!
It goes on like this when an individual sell his old car to Authorized dealership in exchange, then basis condition

a. If car is like 7 yrs old and is in good condition then same is generally put for sale through Authorized Used Car Arm - like Honda Auto Terrace, Maruti True Value, Toyota U Trust - after refurbishment and basic touch ups, servicing and listed at premium (in general 5% to 10% higher than fair price)

If car remained unsold due to any reason say for more than 3 months then is also referred to used car network dealers at fair price.

b. If car more than 8 yrs or is slight in bad condition then is sold through arm of used car network dealers to find a buyer

Advantage in Selling Car to Company Showroom
As the Dealership works under gamut of OEM, so
a. They take more due diligence in ensuring sale of car with transferred RC as per OEM Guidelines.

b. As they work under gamut of OEM Principles, if there is any delay in respect to transferred RC - matter can be escalated to OEM too

c. Dealership gives an undertaking that all risk, responsibility pertains to them from date of possession of car - although same do not hold any relevance in court of law but still can be used as material document to escalate to OEM if any unfair usage of car is done at later stage

and this gives slight an upper hand in exchanging car to dealership as against Open Market

Having said same if you sell in Open Market
If you have ready papers and local car dealer is of repute with good reviews - can consider sale through him too
Only thing is to ensure to follow up for RC Transfer as and when car is sold by him - reason there are few instances where some dealers sell car without transfer onus and it brings original owner to risk in event of any
> Road Accidents
> Challans / Traffic Offence

So as long as this local dealer has good reviews and care to follow up for transfer of RC - am sure if getting a better price can be considered for sale to him too,

Hope should help !!
