Hello sir

I am looking for a car which will be my first and have learnt the driving a while ago and looking to purchase one in this festive season.

I am looking for a car which has
1) safety
2) comfortable as i am 6’1”
3) reliable doesnt make me run service centre multiple times
4) low on maintenance
5) easy to handle for a newbie like me
6) enough power to tackle highways as well

My daily run is going to be 30-35 km of which 20km highway but traffic is not that smooth and rest city with bumper to bumper traffic.
My budget is is upto 20 lakh and looking in subcompact and compact suv category.
I have 2 confusion-a)petrol or diesel
b)manual or automatic

Cars under consideration
1) brezza-automatic top variant price is 16lakhs which is a bit too much i think.
2) nexon-when i sat in it,my head was almost touching to the roof.
3) kushaq
4) elevate-delivery will be in january
5) harrier-one dealer is offering upto2.25 lakh discount on the stocks.variants available in automatic is xt+,xz,xz+o.

Kindly suggest.

Niraj Sahab,

Hi. Hope doing great
Let me assist in

Petrol or Diesel
Kind of usage as specified which is like 30 to 35 Kms of which 20 Kms on highway

You will be better off with Petrol Car. Somehow the mileage is decent on highway even in Petrol cars, adding on the fact
a. Scheduled service cost are higher, Upfront Cost, Interest outflow for same
b. Components like Battery, Clutch plates etc cost higher in Diesel car
c. Fuel Efficiency is improved in BS6 Phase 2 cars and For usage as specified you really do not need to spend in higher on upfront cost, interest for a Diesel one

To view a Petrol car would be apt for need

Manual or Automatic
When you have a budget and fact that 15 odd kms would be on b2b traffic - owning an Automatic will make things easy and convenienet
Not only will be able to relax in left foot and free from manual gear shift movements but somehow in Turbo charged Engine choices - Turbo lag feels better masked in Automatic cars

Having said same - if you feel fun Best Choice to view should opt for
a. Honda Elevate Manual
b. SKoda Kushaq Automatic

Honda Elevate Zx:
a. No Nonsense High on Reliablity, Practical car
b. Impressive dynamics
c. Reliable 1.5 Litre IVtec Engine
d. All necessary modern age features - 6 Airbags, ESP, 10 Inch Touchscreen, ADAS
e. Impressive suspension - mature at best
f. Cabin Insulation is Top Notch
g. Somehow recommended Manual in Elevate as clutch is light and feels more engaging in drive and pickup as against CVT - kind of fun in driving Honda 1.5 Vtec in Manual is never felt in Automatic, somehow Auto feels bit slow as against MT.

Alternative
Skoda Kushaq Ambition Automatic with reasons
a. 5 Star Build Quality and proven in Safety - has standard Dual Airbags, ESP, Hill Assist
b. On highway will experience the very best of handling, pickup, fun - Brezza weakness is steering feedback. Skoda Signature element is handling
c. As specified earlier - Turbo lag feels better masked in Automatic car - i was referring in context of Skoda only - you will find b2b drive at absolute ease without lag felt
d. At 15.32 Lakh Exshowroom you will get all standard essential features in car - Push Button Ignition, Cruise Control, Automatic Climate Control with Rear AC Vents, Paddle Shifters, Electric Power Steering, All 4 Power Window with Auto One Touch Up Down at Driver Side, Anti Pinch Power Window on Driver Side, Remote Central Lock, Rear View Camera with Reverse Parking Sensor, Electric ORVM with Power Fold, Touchsceen, Alloys etc
e. Skoda offering 4 yr warranty as standard, recommended to extend same to 6 yrs and opt for 4 yr Skoda Care Service pack - taking care of all scheduled services
f. Initial niggles been resolved
g. Dont choose Manual here as clutch is fair heavier in MT with longer travel

But this engine is noisier, can hear in AC Noise and bit of ratlles as against super silent Honda Elevate

Overall
1. Skoda Kushaq AT - would be easier, more fun, better handling, more powerful
2. Honda Elevate MT - Even add on reliability, super smooth and refined engine, will love in experience of Elevate in MT

Have test drive and basis availability factor of Elevate - choose in to make pick

Took the test drive of elevate and i found cabin noise of engine and tyre is evident.surely its a comfortable car.price is 17.44lakh for manual with waiting of one month(as per sales executive, dont know if he might be lying).nexon user was with and according to him suspension is not good.
Also took testdrive of 1.5dsg kushaq as 1.0 AT was not available in showrrom and is being sent to other city branch.my views- a bit crampy for me,suspension is good(as per nexon user,as its my first car purchase so other user can feel these things),aircon blower does make noise in 1.0 at a level of 3 only which is evident at full speed in 1.5..what i feel missing in ambition is good camera with 360 view and ventilated seats.price quoted is 17.04 after 50k discount.(25 corp+25dealer)10k added will be given as i pointed difference in online insurance and their quotation..(its actually 23k difference)
should i get outside insurance of same go digit company??

1)which will be better buy?
2)if kushaq, then is it wise to go for style variant which will be 2.5 lakh costlier and makes me wonder if its worth it
3)one person claimed to have got 95k dealer discount in delhi in kushaq group.how to negotiate to get more discount

Hello,

Took the test drive of elevate and i found cabin noise of engine and tyre is evident

Did you test drove MT or Auto ?
In Auto it comes with CVT where if you accelerate hard will definite find engine noise due to rubber band effect of CVT and would be there in all CVT Cars where car rpm will increase without a sync in speed.

If its Manual - Surprising as this 1.5 Litre IVtec Engine is pretty refined, i really cant comment on why you felt as a particular issue with that car or what

nexon user was with and according to him suspension is not good

Hope you drove the car - suspension is infact strength of this car, you wont feel bad road as much as in most other cars
Pls note that any SUV would bound to get a slight stiffer suspension set up so as to avoid unncessary high body roll, and can confirm that Elevate can clear bad roads in a pretty decent way without been uncomfortable.

should i get outside insurance of same go digit company??

Is Godigit a preferred partnered insurance company at this dealer workshop ? If yes go for it, else avoid

1)which will be better buy?

Have already shared opinion earlier, if Manual - Elevate, If Auto - Kushaq

2)if kushaq, then is it wise to go for style variant which will be 2.5 lakh costlier and makes me wonder if its worth it

Kushaq Ambition is more towards value price point, but if ready to stretch budget - Kushaq Style offers fully loaded lifestyle, safety, convenience factor enhancing experience without stretching budget in terms of financing need.

Another thing which i forgot to mention, nexon is 3 cylinder turbo as is 1.0 kushaq, both 5 star rating with more features in nexon..what you recommend between these two

Skoda any day due to
> Road Presence
> Better space on rear seat with Easy Ingress, Egress
> Cabin Insulation is superior at higher speed over Nexon

Also, ride and handling of Kushaq is a notch better over Nexon.

Should help !!
