Hi Team,

Good morning! Hope All are doing good.

I am planning to purchase a new car and this would be my first car. And it must be the best 🚗.

I started my car research in August 2023.

I have shortlisted few vehicle below

1. Ignis zeta - Taken test drive, features wise all good apart Driver seat Height adjustment feature is missing. Due to 1 star rating considering safety i am not considering this car.

2. Hyundai Grand i10 nios - Taken test drive and features wise it is good 💯% and taken test drive Drive was very smooth and steering handling is good but mild vibration on steering observed. And safety wise it 2 star. And shortlisted this model.

3. Tata Tiago - Taken test drive and features wise it is good and taken test drive Drive was very smooth and steering handling is good. But mileage on MID avg showing 10km. But the global ncap rating is 4 stars. But the concern is after sales service is not very good. And steel quality is not good for long run and rusting and saw 1 yrs users reviews but windshield is not that good and breaks easily. Need honest review on this from your team to consider this model.

4. Big Wagonr - Taken test drive and features wise it is good and taken test drive Drive was very smooth and steering handling is good. BUt got Back pain for Test drive only. But it is Value for money car. But Safety wise it is poorly rated. And I would not consider this car for purchase.

5. Nissan car - Taken test drive and features wise it is good 💯% and taken test drive Drive was very smooth and steering handling is good. And felt very comfortable when driving this SUV.And mileage on MID on avg shows 10km. But the dealer says this is a test drive vehicle. A brand new car will get 15km in city and on highway it can get upto 19km to 20km. So I shortlisted this model.

And I need to test drive the Baleno and Fronx base model this week.

So please guide me on the correct path on purchase of my first car.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello Murthy,

Greetings !!
Appreciate sharing in need, requirement and to view if flexible a bit on budget - best buy for need would be Hyundai Exter S with reasons

a. 4 Cylinder Engine with very refined engine - no Tata, Nissan can match in same
b. With improved suspension - can find better stability at higher speed
c. 6 Airbags now features as standard across Hyundai - if flexible on budget to check out Exter S Option with ESP
d. Features - 6 Airbags, Highline TPMS, AC Heater with Rear AC, Electric Power Steering, All 4 Power Window, Remote Central Lock with Foldable Key, Reverse Parking Sensor, Height Adjustable Driver Seat, Adjustable Rear Seat Head Restraint, Electric Adjustable ORVM, Rear Parcel Tray, LED DRL, Digital Instrument Cluster, 8 Inch Touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple Car Play with 4 Speakers and Steering Mount Controls

you find every necessary modern age feature to be equipped in this model

e. Space Wise with ingress, egress is good for 4 adults and the way all round appeal of Exter S - in terms of :-
> Hyundai Reliability
> After Sales Service
> Engine refinement
> Suspension
> Necessary features
> Road Presence

will love in experience of Hyundai Exter
Suggest to check out to test drive Hyundai Exter as looks best value for your need.

Hi,

Sure it goes on like this. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios although has same engine, similar tyre profile and using its chassis platform is what Exter built but 3 major differences
a. Suspension - which feels more matured set up in Exter giving it an edge for those buyers considering city and highway
b. Carries Tag of SUV - Yes is a raised tall body design car and SUV is a craze in Indian Market - you too referred it as preferred area
c. Better Handling - Steering feedback is marginally better as against Nios

So - consider same as a pick over Nios

Fronx: Myth to think it as 5 star rated car. Reality is car is not crash tested on any NCAP Parameter
Having said same - at same time Fronx is build on Baleno platform and car structural rigidity is significantly improved when new gen was introduced last year. However no data to back up safety rating

Fronx downside is space which feels limited for taller passenger and price point at which one can own Baleno Delta with better features over Fronx Sigma. Do note that Fronx shines the most in Turbo Manual Variant - but for same you need to raise budget to almost 11.5 Lakh on road for Delta PLus Turbo

4 Best Models: We understand the requirement, preference of customer and suggest the best 1 or 2 picks to avoid confusion
I suggest to test drive Exter in SUV and Baleno / I20 in Hatchback to focus on these cars with model variants as recommended :-
a. Exter S - if SUV Tag
b. Baleno Delta / I20 Magna - if hatchback

Hi Team,

Thanks for your time on the same !

Now while compared to Grand i10 Nios Sportz variant & Exter S - if SUV Tag. I Need consider Exter S - if SUV Tag. But need to Test drive this week.

So i should not consider mentioned Vehicles for my purchase like Ignis zeta , Grand i10 Nios Sportz ,Tata Tiago , Big Wagnor, Fronx & Nissan car Correct me i am wrong.

So i need to test drive the below

1. Exter S
2.Baleno
3.I20

which is 4th one which you are suggesting?

I need some time to post after my Test drive experience.

And have one more query, As per BS6 Phase 2 norms why only Automatic vehicles have features and why it is missing in Manual. Like Hill Assist. & Brake Assist...etc.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello,

And have one more query, As per BS6 Phase 2 norms why only Automatic vehicles have features and why it is missing in Manual. Like Hill Assist. & Brake Assist...etc.

In Manual Cars - somehow easier through downshift on Steep Inclines, for Automatic - hence OEM added up Hill Hold Assist
There was lot of campaign done as many novice / first time drivers were finding it difficult to control without Hill Assist.

Anyhow this scenario is more observant in Maruti Suzuki Cars.

Hi Team,

Today i have taken the Maruti Baleno Test Drive. And The ride was very comfortable. And i loved the front engine part which has shield cover at inside the bottom. Inside seating positions is very good. Loved the 8 Inch Touch screen with Andriod feature but no Apple car paly as per the dealers.

And features wise Base model is not Value for money. And concern is driver seat Height feature impacting the road view. Rest all ok.

And Delta wise Value for money but driver seat Height feature is missing & impacting the road view. Rest all ok.

And Zetia wise Need to compromise on Price But It is feature laoded but Missing features TPMS, Cruise Control, Hill Hold Assist, ESP Electronic Stability.

But Offers wise Best buy would be sigma \ Delta Variant. And concern is driver seat Height feature impacting the road view. Rest all ok.

Any suggestions on this Test drive Review from me.

Looking an update How to procced further.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello,

2 things :-
a. Budget : Somehow Baleno Zeta will cross in defined budget range

b. Visibility : If you finding obstruction to road view due to lack of height adjustable driver seat then will face similar issue in I20 Magna too - as seats are placed slight lower than Baleno and this model also lacks height adjustable driver Seat

Somehow - Exter S looks like near perfect for your need with height adjustable driver seat and also gets in Highline TPMS with 6 Airbags
I suggest to test drive this car as what which comes closest to need, requirement.

Hi Team,

Yes, I went to show room but Test drive Vehicle was AMT no Manual and could not do test drive. They update they will arrange Test drive to my home only. Need to wait for the same. But Vehicle looks Excellent. But Need to known 5 Yrs Service cost details. And user mileage details. And they quoted for S Variant is 935000/- But need to comprise on Budget here also.

And i20 Magna does not have same feature which i was looking Height Adjustable Driver Seat. And Next Sportz variant is costing 10,52,000/- On road. Which may not affordable in my Budgets.

And Zetia wise Need to compromise on Price But It is feature laoded but Missing features TPMS, Cruise Control, Hill Hold Assist, ESP Electronic Stability. And they quoted 9,80,000/- for Zeta Variant which has 6 air bags.

And budget wise in Tata Car Tata Tiago Top Variant XZ+ they quoted 8,25,000/- But concerns are 3 Cylinder Engine and Need to known for long run is this vehicles steel good. I saw some ownership reviews they updated it gets rust. And saw 1 yrs users reviews but windshield is not that good and breaks easily. Need honest review on this from your team to consider this model.

So as per our discussion only the Best suitable Vehicle is Hyundai Exter S only.

Or Is there any other Vehicles that you can think off and suggest me as a another options.

Hi,

1. Basis budget - Hyundai Exter S was recommended in previous post. Exter S cost in almost 80,000 lower as against Nios
Pls check out same. Exter has better suspension and road presence with SUV Like feel and even more sturdy body panel as against Nios

2. If you can afford in 13000 EMI for 7 yrs - Exter S again fits in with 85% Finance possible, EMI @ 85% finance @ 6.25 Lakh loan would be near around Rs 10,000. Rest 2.5 Lakh can make as downpayment including road tax, insurance.

3. Festive Offer schemes going on by Banks, refer - Car Loan Interest Rates

Hi Team,

Thanks for your Update.

So coming Back to my Paid question only which is making confusing on my mind.

Why Maruthi Suzuki sales are High even though they lack in safety on car for few models. And this month OCT Sales stood at 1,68,047.
And Hyundai which has 6 Air Bags concept but still fails in GNCAP. with 2/3 Star on few models.
And TATA which has 2 Airbags and has a success in safety rating. But not able to capture the market and growth.

Now as per our previous conversation

Any thing you can suggest from Maruti Brand.

And from Hyundai you have suggested Exter s and i am preferring Exter S(o) for more 3 safety features. Like Hill Assist. ...etc

And From Tata , As you suggested TATA Tiago (XZ+) & Altroz (XM+).

But need a final Verdict on my query which is creating a Big confusion on my mind.
