I am confused between New Seltos and Hyundai creta.
My son wants to purchase Seltos because of power / DCT / Other features. I went for Creta petrol auto because of comfort ride and soft suspension.

Now, whether I should sell creta if I get good price or wait for new launch and offer.
Thanks

Dear Miten ji,

Greetings !!

Kia Motors India did substantial enhancements in Seltos
a. Suspension is now much improved as against pre facelift model. Although on stiffer side for handling, but not something as excess stiff.
You can very well call it a mature suspension with pretty impressive ride, handling. Steering feedback feels better as against Creta

b. 1.5 GDI Performance with DSG Transmission makes it near the best in terms of fun and power delivery
With Sport Mode along with combination of Mature ride, handling, steering - can experience the sporty character of car to its best

c. Pretty impressive in Styling, Interiors, Features - can feel the luxury element out of it. ADAS too introduced in top of line

But having said same: As you referred that you already bought Hyundai Creta - Selling it and buying Seltos would be unfavorable call with Reasons

a. You will instantly be hit with 8% to 10% depreciation in on road price - means Rs 1.5 Lakh hit in terms of selling price as against purchase price

b. Although Kia Motors tuned suspension but Indeed Suspension of Hyundai Creta is more comfort oriented as against Kia Seltos - can feel more plush ride in city condition

c. Rear Seat Under-thigh support is better in Hyundai Creta. Somehow seating comfort along with neck support remains an edge in case of Creta

d. No Turbo lag in Creta IVT as its a naturally aspirated Engine as against Seltos where some lag definitely felt at lower speed

e. Long term reliability and cost of ownership remains lower in MPI Engine as used in Creta IVT Auto, as against Seltos DCT. Do note that Idling should be followed in Turbo charged petrol engine for 30 seconds at starting car for first time, and idling after long hours of high speed drive - in event of same not followed Turbocharger can follow quicker wear & tear leading to much higher replacement cost

f. No difference in Build Quality - its the same car in structural safety parameter.

My Opinion
Unless primary objective is Speed and High Speed Handling at its core - there is no point in replacing Creta IVT as against Seltos DCT
Hyundai Creta has its own charm in comfort, space, relaibility and ADAS although not there in Creta but nothing can match in human ticks while driving on road.

Hope should help !!

Sir.. Thanks for the detailed answer and clearing my doubts. Turbo DCT is available in higher models. It means I must spend another 3 lacs plus a 1.5 lacs loss. One more question? which is more fuel efficient IVT or DCt if we follow all the rules of driving an auto car?

Dear Miten Sahab,

I endorse in view to not to Sell Creta (if bought in 2023) and buy Seltos now. Additionally - If you have taken loan for buying Creta - it would entail additional forecloure charge too

In terms of mileage - although no significant difference but if drive in relaxed way - IVT cars will end up to be marginally more fuel efficient (1 to 1.2 Kmpl) in day to day city drive as against Turbo DCT in similar conditions.

Hope should help !!
