Hi,

I'm Kasi Ram. considering purchasing a 2016 Honda Jazz Diesel, V variant, a single owner car, that has done around 74000 kms. The dealer mentioned that the complete service history is available with Honda. The insurance is a zero depreciation insurance with Iffco.

What the dealer mentions is that, after purchasing the car from the owner, he got the bumper and grill replaced, that too with the insurance, since its a zero depreciation bumper to bumper insurance. He also shared the before photos with me, that show scratches on the bumper.

My query is, is this normal, can I go ahead and purchase the car if all other documents are ok. Since the insurance transfer won't transfer the ncb bonus to me, is it ok. Do you see any issues here.

Thank you so much.
I'm also attaching the snapshot of the conversation with the dealer.

Dear Kasi Ram Sahab,

Hi, Hope doing great.
Pls find inputs on queries as raised :-

What the dealer mentions is that, after purchasing the car from the owner, he got the bumper and grill replaced, that too with the insurance, since its a zero depreciation bumper to bumper insurance.

Slight weird, as dealer will never do same unless major dent, paint chrip or same broken or if car been hit by himself only
Also if its claimed by dealer on behalf due to screws- the original customer will lose NCB Benefit as otherwise would have used in his next car (NCB can be transferred till 3 yrs)

I dont think any vehicle owner will allow dealer to make him lose his NCB Bonus on car.

My Suggestion
Pls check for service history through Honda connect app or original service record bills if available
Check whether
a) Timely serviced
b) Any recommendations been put by service center in terms of suspension, aircon etc as they put a note to issues any if with the car in recommendation

Only if no issues and provided dealer justification seems genuine on losing NCB part of original owner - then may consider go ahead with a due diligence check from a trained workshop or get car inspected from Honda authorized workship to rule out any issues with the car.

Hope should help !!

Thank you so much Gagan ji for your timely and detailed response. I ultimately decided not to go ahead with the deal. Regards.
