Hi My Car Helpline Team,

Now i test drove may cars ,since i am not expert in driving and new to it ,i am preferring an automatic vehicle ,My budget is around 20-22 lakhs now and some times I will require a seven seater car .

Running will be most in city and sometime in highway and i am confused between. Taigun Petrol 1.0L automatic topline (Top Varient ) and XUV 700 Diesel AX5 Automatic 7 seater Now .Can you confirm me which one will be better deal ?

Also I have yet to test drive hyryder Strong Hybrid .Apart from two SUVs mentioned above if i will not get with any of them i can go with Toyota Hyryder Strong Hybrid S or G Varient .Can you also compare it with the two mentioned above ?

Can you also confirm real life mileage of Taigun 1.0L Automatic and XUV 700 diesel automatic in city and highway ?

Dear Diwan Sahab,

Hi. Hope doing great !!
Basis need requirement as stated

1. i am not expert in driving and new to it ,i am preferring an automatic vehicle
2. Running will be most in city and sometime in highway
3. My budget is around 20-22 lakhs now and
4. some times I will require a seven seater car .

Let me tell you
a. VW Taigun AT as shortlisted is best as 4 member car only. Some rear center middle seat has
> Firm back base
> Firm raised seat in middle

In terms of mileage - expect 12 KMpl as reasonable expectation city use

b. XUV 700 Diesel AX5 Automatic 7 seater is a great all round car for
> Comfort
> Space for 5 members
But - 3rd row is actually unsable as has very limited legroom space and only meant for small kids under 10 yrs.
For info - 2nd row is fixed and you cant slide in 2nd row ahead to increase legroom for 3rd row.
So only opt for 7 seater if have small kids, else opt for 5 seater version - then it would actually be fair call

At same time
a) Longer waiting period
b) Limited Features despite spending in 23 Lakh+ (5 seater) / 24 Lakh+ (7 seater)
c) Low Mileage

are cons
In terms of mileage - expect 11 to 12 Kmpl in city use with XUV700 Diesel Auto

Alternative
Basis need requirement of maximum in city use - i suggest to opt for Toyota Hyryder V Hybrid with reasons
> Most Fuel Efficient one and with hybrid tech actually car mileage will be best in city use with car will automatically switch to battery at times increasing fuel efficiency to 17 to 18 kmpl in city use
> ALthough not as spacious as XUV700 but still 3 average physique passenger can sit in Hyryder on rear seat
> Although 3 cylinder engine has some vibration but still overall insulation, Noise levels feels significant better as against XUV700 & Taigun
> With this model - fully equipped lifestyle features - 360 Degree camera, Panoramic Sunroof, Heads up display, TPMS, LED Projectors, 10 Inch Smart Pro HD Touchscreen along with all modern age essential features except ADAS is available.
> Reliable, Top Notch in After sales service and ideal for buyers having maximum city use

What you wont like
> Not as fun or quick to drive as Kushaq, XUV700 - but does the job more than desired in city use
> Not as impeccable build as Kushaq, XUV700 - but still with same platform as used in Brezza with 6 Airbags, ESP, ALl 4 disc - you really wont have complaints
> Does not feel as premium in Interiors but still with fully loaded features you again will not find it deal breaker
> Limited Headroom for rear seat passenger (if someone has height of 6 feet or above the its a deal breaker else not)

Although you specified G or V but If budget is your side then opt for V one for
> 360 Degree Camera, TPMS
> Cooled Ventilated Front Seats Seats
> PU Art Leatherette Brown Seats (As against Fabric Seats in G)
> More Premium Speakers for Class Leading Infotainment Sound Clarity

360 camera makes life lot easier in parking and cooled ventilated front seats in summers.
Am sure experience will be superior with Hyryder as against XUV700, Kushaq basis need preference as mentioned.

Hope should help !!

2.Which will give more mileage among the two ,both in city and highway ?

4. How much mileage will I get in XUV 700 Diesel Automatic both in city and highway ?

Sure,

1. Which is better among Taigun 1.0 L Automatic and Taigun 1.5 L DSG Automatic ? And why ?

Taigun 1.5 DSG for sole reasons - Performance which is exemplary in 1.5 TSI - this is the engine which despite of 150 PS Power can put XUV700 2 Litre, 200 PS 380 NM Torque to shame as DSG response is outstanding

Any car driving enthusiast will simply love the way this car drives and can instantly fell in love
To be honest - if you ask me for the Best Driving Enthusiast SUV of Indian Car Market in under 20 Lakh - it has to be VW Taigun 1.5 DSG
But if you like relaxed drive and maximum city use - the chances are you wont be able to unleash the potential of this SUV and should look for some other car

2. Which will give more mileage among the two ,both in city and highway ?

This 1.5 Litre engine comes with Active cylinder technology and is a 4 cylinder one as against 1 Litre 3 cylinder one
Although in city usage mileage in 1 Litre TSI would be better, but whenever you take 1.5 DSG on highway, expressway and activate in cruise mode then active cylinder technology will cut off 2 cylinder to optimize fuel efficiency and infact will get even better mileage than 1 Litre TSI

3. Is it ok to go with DSG gearbox and Taigun 1.5 Cylinder deactivation technology ?

Yes, with additional 2 or 3 year warranty
VW India offering upto 7 yr warranty on the car (where 4 yr is standard), can opt for 6 yr or 7 yr warranty plan for peace of mind ownership

4. How much mileage will I get in XUV 700 Diesel Automatic both in city and highway ?

Lot depends on city traffic, loading, average speed and at what speed driving on
Unfortunately cant put a number to it as some owners reported single digit mileage in city conditon too when driven in peak hours.

Hi Gagan Sir,

I have test driven almost all cars which was i my list .I am just mentioning my observations here :-

1. Taigun 1.5 GT :- Yes ,it is definitely a fun to drive car but in highway only not in city usage because in city it's turbo will never be kicked in and it DSG has some initial lag as well.I have test driven it for around 40 Km and it was given me fuel economy of 11.6 kmpl for overall journey including the path includes as highway as well .So it will give 8-9 kmpl in city .

2. Taigun 1.0 AT :- I have test driven it for just 5-6 kilometers and it was given me around 7-8 kmpl in just city drive only (no highway ).Also rear seat comfort in Taigun for 2 passengers is very good because it has fabric bucket seats which are very comfortable ,car insulation is very good ,and view through its rear mirror is also very good ,it provides comfort of a Sedan while being an Compact SUV.

3.Toyota Hyryder : - Being an automatic it is easy car to drive but i found it somewhat boring and not much fun to drive it just provide great fuel economy .Also rear seat comfort is ok not great for chauffer driven family members .Because it's seating position is very high.

4.Tata Nexon Ev :- Yes ,it is great fun to drive car and it has very good punch in sports mode. Also it is VFM as compared to ZS EV but i have doubt on Tata reliability.

5.MZ ZS EV :- I haven't found it as more fun or engaging to drive as compared to Nexon Ev ,i felt some initial lag on it might be my co passenger or showroom guy put a regen mode ON that's I felt so .It has a great interior fit and finish.MG is making very good quality cars both in interiors as well as exteriors as well.

Now my question is," is it good to buy MZ ZS EV base varient (exite) worth rupees 24 Lakhs onroad in 2023 ? Shall we save money in coming future buying an electric car cost us 24 Lakhs today ? If yes how is it possible ?

I think we have to drive it more in regular basis to retrieve its overall cost within its warranty period because it is 10-12 lakhs expensive then Astor Expecting battery life of 15-16 years if someone drive around 70 km on daily basis can save it's battery cost in 5 years and overall car cost in 10 years and it will give profit or it can free of cost after 10 years .But what how has less running and for those who will not drive it on regular basis ?

I wil wait for your opinion ,Sir

Appreciate to experience in cars as is must before making a high value purchase decision.

Now my question is," is it good to buy MZ ZS EV base varient (exite) worth rupees 24 Lakhs onroad in 2023 ? Shall we save money in coming future buying an electric car cost us 24 Lakhs today ? If yes how is it possible ?

In terms of saving money - what financial benefits on buying EV Cars are :-
a) GST @ 5% without any cess
b) Car Loan Interest deduction Benefits under IT with 1.5 Lakh deduction as allowed u/s 80 EEB for all loans disbursed till 31st March 2023
c) Road Tax waived in many states, i guess in yours too
d) Some Incentive too allowed in few states where on buying EV - state government is offering upto 1.5 Lakh incentive
e) and yes running cost where with 50 KWH battery with near 110% efficiency - with 55 Units as charged you can expect real world range of near 300 to 330 Kms - making running cost of under rs 2 per Km
f) Lower upkeep service cost

MG Zs interiors definitely feels more upmarket, premium as against Nexon EV Max and XUV400 EV

If your average usage going to be like 1500 Kms a month - definitely with an EV Car as against Petrol one - your average annual savings would be over Rs 1 Lakh basis usage, and in around 7 to 8 yr usage - will find total savings topping up over car like MG Astor Super CVT.

However if average usage going to be like 1000 Kms a month or under - then EV doesnt make much financial sense

i felt some initial lag on it might be my co passenger or showroom guy put a regen mode ON that's I felt so

Yes - there are 3 modes, and with level 3 performance pickup can go average
For day to day usage - drive in with level 1 with Normal mode
On crusing on expressway, highway - one should use in Eco Mode with level 2
For unleasing the fun occassionally - sport mode

Adding on Level 3 with Eco to be only used when in low battery and finding it difficult to even reach in destination.
Hope should help !!
