Demo Car Buying Problem at Dealer Showroom End

Hi Greetings !!
Let me break queries in parts

I asked showroom guy for quotation and they sent me a quotation of 25 lakh and remaining 1 lakh is refurbishment cost it will not come in the quotation and you will also not get the bill for that refurbishment

As you specified that initial On road price as quoted was 26 Lakh for which you agreed, but dealer on asking quote has shared now
> Quote of 25 Lakh
> 1 Lakh as Refurbished Cost

and for refurbishment they are stating not to issue any bill too.

Some Pointers
1. At time of booking - did you not asked for quotation ?

2. As in your mail referred that road tax payment will be done - i presume that its an Unregistered car - so technically you will be like 1st owner of car and would likely be entitled for warranty and free service too unless specified for any modification which do not make you entitle for it

and if indeed you are 1st owner of car with warranty too provided from Jeep - then charging any kind of refurbishment is
a) Fraudulent
b) Malified

Also, asking for payment without any bill means about staff connivance - where they will be showing this car sold off for Rs 25 Lakh in books and adjust 1 lakh illegally in there own accounts.

Way is:- Been Jeep Showroom are managed as Stellantis as Parent company
Strongly recommend to take it ahead with Stellantis by posting that you buying top end Model S from authorized Jeep Dealership and showroom is demanding for additional 1 Lakh as refurbishment cost in cash as illegally without bill over this 25 Lakh quote on car where you will get 1st owner serial number with warranty too,

Do refer that such acts only malify Jeep brand and daunts image of Stellantis on sales practices as adopted.
Specify that rs 50,000 already paid to dealer in goodwill gesture for this car and also share the entire copy of quote of this 25 Lakh rs and seek there intervention on this 1 lakh waiver as illegally asked in cash


At same time do refer Rs 10,000 as additional depot charges been claimed despite marked illegal in several court verdicts which needs to be waived, refer source as mentioned in this post on Dealer Handling Charges

RTO Charges: Unfortunately theres no provision as discounts are not factored in for calculation of Road Tax
As per state RTO rules - road tax is applied on exshowroom price
Only if you are eligible for BH Series road tax where is specified that road tax is computed on invoice price, and not exshowroom then can save in considerable amount

Pls refer BH Series Eligibility
Here as Invoice price of car would be like 18.5 Lakh - road tax will be computed on this amount and will also be lower as against state road tax as been charged of 5.53 Lakh, to give reference it would be like Rs 35K approx which needs to be paid every 2 years on pro-rata basis making you save almost Rs 3 Lakh on to it.

So pls check for eligibility on to same.

Thanks for your quick response.

As you asked about that, you don’t asked the quotation while paying the advance. Sir actually I asked them for quotation and break up of 26 lakh but he denied to give me by saying I will mail you the quotation or else I’ll watsapp you. So I went out.

Since the vehicle is 16months old and driven about 15600 kms for test drive purposes there are little scratches dents.

And yes the vehicle is registering in my name as first owner.

I asked the sales consultant about scratches and dents, he said we will refurbish it and will give it to you. And it is included in 26 lakh. By the time I thought it will be included in quotation but now it’s not included in that.

Actually I saw this vehicle add in that sales consultant Facebook page where he was coated the price for 29 lakh. After that I went to showroom to see vehicle and sat for negotiation and I asked him for 30% discount because the vehicle is driven around 15k, for that he said sir give me some time I’ll talk to my manager and my boos regarding this and I’ll get back to you.
Then he come back with little margin around 50-60 thousand saying that we will close the deal around 28 lakh. I denied him saying that I want 30% discount and I’m also wanting to buy it with in 25 lakh.For that he said no sir it is not possible it’s a huge discount you are asking for, I’ll see what I can do.
I’ll ask my manager and my Boos regarding this and I’ll get back to you. He took a day time and said 26 lakh is final price we are offering and that is only for toady time come and book the vehicle if not we have some other customers in Q we will forward this price to them. So I went in hurry and made the advance amount of 50 thousand and again said him that talk to your manager and make me atleast for 25,50,000 for that he said I’ll try sir.

So now what I am thinking is that he got a price of 25 lakh from the management or by his Boos and stared to negotiate with me from the price of 26 lakh by the time I agreed him to pay 26 lakh, so he is planning to take that 1 lakh.And he is also saying we will give you the vehicle for 25 lakh only but we don’t remove any dent, scratch and ect things.

Sir my only question to you is, while selling the demo car to customers like me the showroom is liable for do repairs like scratch, dents, removing there demo car label, provide us the extended warranty ect things or customers should take care of all those things by paying extra amount for that.

And if you say showroom has to take care of it, then please share me some government circulars or any other proof where I can go and talk to them with it.

See Test Drive Cars have small scratches, dents and although there is no such rule that such cars need to mandatorily get back to repaired original condition, but if customer negotiates (as its more a labor intensive job with small paint touchups) - dealer accept same to offer repaired, clean car with clean interiors before booking.

Remember - booking is the sole game, all negotiations, request can well be accepted before booking by dealer showroom and once done - all turns as chargeable affair.

Now in your case as same was discussed by you pre hand - this should have been mentioned in booking docket, but looks like dealer by having wrong intent

There been many scams done internally at dealer end - where staff do malpractices by doing underinvoicing in books, shows higher discounts and worst is your case where they openly ask for cash payment without any receipt.

.And he is also saying we will give you the vehicle for 25 lakh only but we don’t remove any dent, scratch and ect things.

1 Lakh is too much, couple of dent removal barely is rs 1000 charge, If no paint off from the body
Minor scratches can have paint touchup
You can visit a car detailing center and actually can have much better work in much fraction of cost.
You ask him to offer car for 25 Lakh only. Trust - if he has any malified intent he will reject same after 1 to 2 days stating dint get approval.

As specified - it all depends on deal negotiation before booking
Theres no hard rule, but as bare basic before buying test drive cars - customer do ask for these and do specify in written before making payment on final negotiated price.
