Hi Gagan,

First i would like to tell you, Huge fan of your video guide for car buyers. Thanks a tonn keep up the great work.

This is Chaitanya. We purchased a Kia Seltos X-Line (petrol) which was delivered on 1st Oct 2021. We had done around 2500+ kms till date, On April 16th 2022 while driving the “engine malfunction indicator was glowing” the car stopped and we were able to restart and drive after few mins. We took the car to the service center next day, they said it was a glitch and did something in the software and the error symbol not displayed after that. We got our car back.

On April 25th, we tried taking out the vehicle the engine would go on but the car would not move forward. And now along with engine malfunction indicator it was also showing ECS indicator was on.

We had to call RSA to tow the car to service center. After 1-2 days of inspection they said it is a Transmission problem and they had to replace the DCT transmission system as of today we are still yet to receive the part at service center. Could you guide us on how to proceed with this issue. (Please find the images attached)

Thanks & Regards

Dear Chaitanya ji,

Hi, Thanks, Glad to be of help !!
As i gone through the error images as shared
1. Check Engine Light
2. Malfunction in Vehicle Stability Management

Now there could be one to multiple reasons including transmission which may cause above 2 warning lights but transmission issue is the the most serious note in car and diagnosed using Kia on board software too.

Can you confirm
a) Did you or the workshop also observed any blinking of Drive or Reverse Mode too ?
b) Were you unable to drive car when saw both check engine light and ESC Malfunction Indicator

If yes then definite looks like DCT Transmission failure

Now if indeed its transmission failure - well am sorry to say but you are part of those .1% owners (1 out of 1000) who face this transmission failure issue globally on DCT / DSG Cars . As car is mechanical technology still is evolving and not niggle free

Now as owner - these are the next steps
1. Send Email to Kia Customer care, Kia Regional Team involving them for such a serious issue in months old car. Also raise a Tweet and call them up for an alarm for such a serious malfunction in car
2. Share your apprehension on long term reliability and doubts by investing over 20 Lakh
3. State the concern area by involving Kia regional team and involve them for diagnosis by Regional service team including replacement of transmission on earliest if required and complimentary goodwill long term warranty on car

Ideally, The direction should be towards diagnosis by Kia regional service team too and if indeed is a failure of transmission - then same to be replaced on earliest basis with long term goodwill warranty and AMC Maintenance package .

Hope should help
Feel free to write for followup queries on same.
