Sir,

I have budget around 10-12 Lakh. Planning to buy new car for family of 5.
Budget-10-12 lakh
Transmission- Manual
Fuel- Petrol (Diesel could be considered if any good VFM option available )
Daily running- 10-20 km (car will be used Mostly for trips not on daily basis)
Body style- compact SUV or crossover preferably (sedan could be considered but will be last option)
Options looked out yet- Scross Zeta, XUV300 W6 (PETROL/Diesel), Mg Astor style, Verna s+

Not interested in- Nexon due to its rear design, Honda city 5th gen out of budget 4th gen not interested.
My house is in rural area with little patch of bad road otherwise most of the drive will be on state/national highway.
Please help me to choose the better option as I am totally confused.

Dear Vikas ji,

Greetings
As we understand that major requirement of this car would be for long trips - its important to consider to buy a car which is
> Stable on Highway
> Available with Impressive Steering Feedback
> Suspension should be tuned for matured high speed dynamics

and as referred that road conditions are not good too in local areas with space for 5 Members

S Cross
Well - Maruti S Cross comes with
> Stiff suspension which makes impressive high speed dynamics
> Stability is good, car feels with good grip
> Car is pretty well loaded in space front with 5 members can sit in comfortably (although rear center middle seat is relative firm)
> Proven Brand - reliable, competitive ownership service cost

But somehow
> Steering dynamics are not as great as otherwise should be
> No ESP in car
> S Cross based on heartect chassis platform - although sheet metal quality is good but this heartect platform not proven in safety ncap rating

Mahindra XUV300
An excellent choice in W8 Petrol
> Almost similar features as in S Cross Zeta
> Feels more agile, quicker
> 5 Star Safety, Build Quality
> Driving Dynamics in terms of Suspension comfort is better in XUV300

But
> Boot Space is impractical at 265 Litre - if you care for long trips will possibly crib
> Very average interiors

MG Astor
I suggest to avoid, although on papers base model looks like pretty much feature loaded
> But there is very high waiting on Base Style trim as limited production of base trim
> 1.5 Naturally aspirated Petrol Engine lacks aura as in XUV300
> Steering, Driving dynamics of MG Cars are tuned for comfort but lacks the feel feedback

Hyundai Verna
Why Sedan when you not keen on to it
Also steering feedback is not great

Recommendation
See XUV300 has 2 big cons
> Boot Space : Is that a deal breaker for you ? can you live with it
> Interiors feels pretty average : Feels like outdated interiors

If these 2 cons are not deal breaker then Mahindra XUV300 W6 is the best choice for your need
Else looks out for S Cross Zeta Petrol - a fair impressive spacious car matching in need, requirements. Just will say dont think about NCAP and all if car not crash tested - its that platform is heartect but its signature product and Maruti uses best high intensity grade steel in its pemium range S Cross

Hope should help !!

Sir,
1. Would it be wise decision of buying diesel engine xuv300 in 2022 as govt is discouraging diesel engines. My monthly running will be around 500-700 per month however i love the punch and feel of diesel engine.
2. Whether I should go for current gen xuv300 or should wait for the facelift?
Please advise as I am planning to book xuv300 in this month.

Please advise

Hi

1. For Petrol and Diesel choice - pls refer Petrol Vs Diesel Car

2. XUV300 Petrol Performance is impressive too, somehow driving 7500 Kms a year may not justify in Price gap in between Petrol and Diesel

3. If its W4 to W8 - recommend to go with existing version and post discounts should be a good deal, else if considering in W8 Option - would be worth a wait to get all new updated model

Hope should help !!
