Hi Gagan,

I'm looking to buy an Automatic car with a budget of 10-14 lakh (max) for my parents. It's my first car soo I'm really confused. Other than Hatchbacks and Sedan, I'm open to all the cars.

I already booked Xuv300 W8(O) P AMT, but now I'm having second thoughts after seeing your videos.

My ideal car should be:
1. Safe
2. Comfortable
3. Spacious
4. Stable on high speeds
4. Feature Rich
5. Stunning Looks
6. Silent Cabin
7. Good Driving Dynamics.

During my research, I tried several cars but due to these reasons I rejected them:

1. Toyota Urban Cruiser - Good exterior but really bad cheap quality Interiors. It didn't feel good. Also Lots of outside noise in the cabin.

2. Maruti Brezza: I hate Maruti due to its build quality, but still it got 4 stars, so I had a look. But same issues as above.

3. Tata Nexon: Ergonomics are poor. My mom's head was colliding again and again while entering the car. The windshield felt super narrow, and from inside it gave me a claustrophobic feeling. Plus AMT was really bad, too many head nodes. Too much engine noise and cheap quality of materials in the interior.

4. Kia Sonet: After sitting on Nexon seats, these seats felt uncomfortable. The back row was not having good legroom. Plus Kia seltos performed poorly in terms of safety, so I had my doubts.

5. Maruti S cross: Really poor build quality.

6. Ford Ecosport: Amazing car, loved it. But my mom hated it in the back seat. It can never accommodate 3 people in the back. The suspensions were super stiff, I could feel all the potholes.

7. Hyundai Venue: I felt like its automatic was very laggy at lower RPM.

8. Creta, Kushaq, Taigun, Astor- Their automatic models were out of my budget.

Final Car:

Xuv300: Interior although plain and dull but felt like it was of premium quality. Seating was comfortable and cabin was spacious. I was hoping AMT to be laggy and less responsive with head nodes like Nexon, but it was quick and smooth. Build quality and styling is also good. Too many features. Amazing suspensions. I can adjust with small boot space as back row sitting is on higher priority. And also I felt like the cabin to be very silent. So I booked this one. It tick marked most of my requirements.

Confusion:-

Now, Mahindra is removing soo many features, and increasing the price. I'm just not sure at 14 lakhs, is it still a good choice. Also, should I wait for the next facelift model as it's already expected next year? Due to my budget constraints I'm afraid it will be on higher end.

Also, this car will be there in our family for the next 10 years, so should I wait for flex engine cars? Since this is my first car, I'm not opting for an EV.

Do you think I made the right decision or is there any other car I should look at or give a second chance? Maybe by increasing my budget a little bit, do you recommend any other car, which could fit my requirements?

Also during 15mins test drive, we cannot judge anything, maybe I made wrong judgements about other cars. In one of your videos you said, Xuv300 cabin is really loud. And few said that the AMT is not at all good. And I felt completely opposite. Might be I didn't tested on really high speeds.

Kindly help me in deciding the best car for me. Its a long term decision and I dont want to regret it later. Please be as open as possible. I really want to know your recommendations.

Thanks & Regards,
Jatin Arora

Totally agreed.

When I booked the car on 25th Dec, they told me that I'll be getting Dec manufacture car only. The car is in shipment and it will arrive by 30th Dec. But when the car arrived it was of August manufacturing, i told them I wanted December car only but they said December one is taking time. Either I can wait or buy this August one before year end. They were offering around 1.2lkh discount. But if there's a delay and car doesn't get billed by 31st Dec than i wont be getting any discount.

I made a mistake and trusted Skoda, car was in absolutely new condition and when I did PDI i couldn't find any issues. After delivery these small small issues occurred.

Hi Jatin

Thats bad for a new car owner to visit in workshop so soon

Looks like you missed in Reply Number 12 where categorically stated to buy car of October make and later

We always state to buy car after few months of launch so that initial niggles been resolved and Skoda indeed resolved lot of them by September where October onwards most of batch is niggle free

Anyhow - i suggest to send a direct email on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your connects - will forward to Skoda team.

The USP of this car is its steering vehicle, spectacular engine and seats comfort. This car is a delight on highway.

But since the day 1 I'm facing several issues. But I've to say Skoda dealership service is amazing. I got August manufacturing car.

Issue 1: There were some noises from the driver side door panel. The door was fully opened but still they couldn't figure out the issue. Later they found the car buzzer hanging freely. It was taped and the issue got resolved.

Issue 2: There were some sounds coming from handbrake area. The handbrake knob was loose so it was causing rattling sound.

Issue 3: My car cabin lights weren't working properly they occasionally started flickering. Software was updated and the issue got resolved.

Issue 4: There were some noises from rear seats. Found out that there was some plastic part between door and floor it was not properly installed.

Issue 5: There are some rattling noise from dashboard but I'm not in favour of allowing them to open the center console and figure out the issue.

Issue 6: It has been coming since past 1 week. Whenever i sit on the back seat.. the shockers make squeaking noises. Its still not resolved.

Issue 7: Door make weird squeaking noises whenever I try a little off-roading. Skoda told me the door rubber seal has to be changed. But I didn't get the time to get it done.

There are just too many quality issues with this car, as if before releasing no proper testing was done. I'm just fed-up of the poor quality product skoda is delivering.

Hi Gagan,

Although you recommended me an amazing vehicle but this post is just for warning new car buyers.

Please don't buy skoda kushaq. There are several quality issues with this vehicle. Since the time of buying i.e 1st Jan 22, I've visited service centre more than 5 times.

I was quite lucky ? I booked it at Excel Skoda Faridabad. They just had a car getting delivered by 31st Dec and the previous owner cancelled the booking. So showroom offered me around 1.2lkh discount.

I'm opting for 7years loan.

PNB for first 3 years interest rate is fixed i.e 6.85% and then floating.

I asked PNB employee they said at max it will show variation of 1-2% but at that time my principal amount would be very low.

And same like SBI, no processing fee or other charges and neither advance emi.

So I thought of going ahead with PNB.

Do you think its the right choice?

Hi,

Depends on interest rate horizon
> If its short term then PNB Floating rate is recommended
> If its Long term then SBI or other banks which offer Fixed rate is recommended

Do note that interest rates will only firm up, so for long term tenure better to lock rates
Hope should help !!

Earlier I saw one of your video regarding Car loan... And SBI came on top. They're offering fixed 7.35% for 7 years fixed interest rate. But today while dealing with skoda they suggested to go with PNB .. they're offering 6.85% for 7 years but floating interest rate.

Kindly suggest which one would be better.

Dear Jatin ji,

Certainly Kushaq
> Automatic against AMT
> Better Cabin Space
> Superior High Speed Dynamics
> Full Size SUV
> Slight Better Interiors

Only thing while going with Kushaq :-
> Dont miss to buy Skoda Service care package\
> Buy in October 2021 or later make car as EPC issue was persistent earlier which was resolved later on

Also prices in 2022 will be likely higher by 25K to 30K so if dealer has ready stock in 2021 and you plan for long term purchase - better to take delivery

Hope should help !!

Hi Gagan,

Hopefully this will be my last question. Thank you for your help.

My heart has now gone to Skoda Kushaq.

Just tell which will be a better choice.

Skoda Kushaq Ambition 1.0 TSI AT
Final on road price - 15.1lkh

Xuv300 W8 (o) Petrol AMT
Final on road price - 13.6lkh

There isn't a huge difference between price. But there's a little reduction in feature list.

Just wanted your point of view. Should I go with Kushaq?

Thanks,
Jatin Arora

Dear Sir,

Kicks is flop in Indian Market and not much future left in herd of SUV Car Range
For Turbo Petrol Engine - we recommend this video which should help you to get on to ensuring reliability from Turbo petrol engines

We endorse in that Present age engines are pretty much reliable and timely maintenance and ensuring best practies in drive will deliver long lasting peace of mind ownership

Hi Gagan,

I went for test drive for Honda City testdrive today. Wonderful car, but I feel SUV suits me much more.

Just 1 last thing... I dont have much knowledge about the engines. Few people suggested me that 3 cylinder engines are not good and not much stable. Although Mahindra might have masked the vibrations in Xuv300 but in long run 3 cylinder with turbo could cause an issue. They told me to look into Nissan Kicks.

Could you please share your views on it? Are 3 cylinder engines any good and reliable? Because when I drove Xuv300 petrol, it felt much more refined than 4 cylinder Brezza.

Thanks,

Dear Jatin ji,

Its the designing part of the car where due to
> Approach angle of SUV
> Raised Tyre Profile
> Seating Part Designing

which gives an impressive of raised seating

If you keen for Automatic Sedan with
> Comfort
> Space
> Safety

Possibly Honda City V CVT is great pick at jupper end of your budget or wait for upcoming Skoda Slavia which is due for launch in around Feb'22

Just a small note wile experiencing this car
> Dont drive in Eco mode - its too dull and take away experience from this car
> Is a Naturally aspirated petrol engine - so not quicker but yes is refined, seamless and goes on effortlessly

Hope should help !!

Hi Gagan,

I just now saw one of your video, regarding sedan vs Compact SUV. And it got me confused because you stated some valuable points.

Ref: https://youtu.be/g5cPI7hWa0o

Although sedan have just 1 inch lesser ground clearance from sub compact suv.. i don't why but in Xuv300 i felt sitting really higher on road .. in much more commanding position. And it offers decent space in the back as well.

Could you please suggest few good sedans, i should look into.. same 13-14 lkh budget?
