Hi team,

I have booked Honda Jazz v MT variant but not sure about the decision. Want to switch to Honda Amaze v MT.

My budget is 9 lakhs, both these are with in my budget (Amaze is 8.36 and Jazz is 8.8). I’m really confused about the below.
My concerns with Jazz are - I hear there are AC problems in it and pick up is not so good. Also my friend said it’s looking like pick up van. And resale value seem to be less. And car might get discontinued.

Before switching to Amaze, just want an expert opinion. What I want in car are.
1. Looks
2. Good engine
3. AC
4. Resale value (I might move to Canada in 2024)

Please suggest. Also please provide if you have any other inputs.

Hello,

First come first - Amaze V MT variant is discontinued in new facelift edition and car only available in
> E
> S
> Vx Trim

Although as product Honda Jazz is a great choice in terms of
> Sturdy Build Quality
> Feels more premium in cabin with superior fit and finish
> Jazz based on Honda city 4th gen platform

But if you compare from
> Driving perspective - Amaze been light in kerb weight feels superior in driving pickup
> More agile as turning radius is lower
> Yes due to better sales has higher demand in used car market and from resale perspective Amaze is better choice
> Yes in looks all new Amaze feels more premium but Vx model carries the highest attention as has LED Projector, LED Fog Light, more Stylish Alloys, all new front grille - Amaze looks like more upmarket car in exteriors
https://www.mycarhelpline.com/images/newcar/Honda-Amaze-Car.jpg
> Yes due to light body weight - fuel efficiency too is on better side

In terms of Aircon performance - all 3 cars Jazz, Amaze, 4th Gen city carries same AC unit and somehow cooling is strict average.

Overall recommendation
Jazz carries attention in
> More sturdy Build
> Feels more premium in Cabin
> Feels more stable on highway as suspension of Amaze is on soft side

But if you considering from
> Resale
> Styling
> Performance aspect
> Fuel Efficiency

Amaze is a better pick and should be what bought
But V is discontinued now. Vx is better pick and S is bare basic. Choose Amaze Vx
Hope should help !!

Hi... Thank you for your response.

#37357: As mentioned above I have booked for Jazz (now in confusion whether to switch to Amaze or not). Your above response really helpful in decision making.

However, just today morning another dealer (say dealer-Sam) called me and followed up about booking. I have informed him that I have already booked with another dealer (say dealer-Ram). Than the dealer-Sam got disappointed and asked me why. So I told him that I got better discount around 27K. Then dealer-Sam mentioned that "Dealer-ram would have reduced the insurance Prize as to give me an offer". Than I checked the bill of dealer-Ram and found that the deduction actually has an element of "Ins". Sharing screenshots.

I was trying to wrap my head around this for long time. But I'm not understanding what does it mean to "reduce insurance prize to give offer" and why there is "ins" in my bill. I spoke with the dealer I booked the car (Ram), and he is saying that's nothing to worry about and gave assurance that he will be there to support me etc. etc.

Please help me comprehend what happened and consequences on my insurance.

However, just today morning another dealer (Sundaram Motors) called me and followed up about booking. I have informed him that I have already booked with another dealer (Capital Honda). Hi,

As per given quote Hpnda Dealer showed Insurance Premium of Rs 37552 which includes
> 1 Year Comprehensive
> 1 Yeat B2B essentially bumpet to bumper insurance
> 3 year 3rd Party Cover

and offered Rs 10,000 Discount
Let me tell you - Insurance companies do offer OD (Own Damage Discount) on car and what this dealer has done has shown
> Rack rate premium (without discount)
> Adjusted Insurance Company OD Discount to it and deducted from final amount

However, i can tell you that Insurance company do offer same policy in range of Rs 25000 to Rs 27000 if buy ONline - so essentially its like dealer tacts by showing overinflated premium and then adjust discount to it.

If you speak on real numbers. From given deal - you getting just Rs 10,758 Cash Discount
.

Thank you for the response...

If I'm understanding correctly, they inflated the price first and reduced in the form of the discount. Is that correct way to interpret?

Since I'm novice and don't understand much about insurance at this stage. Can you please tell the below:
1. Will it impact my insurance claim if anything happens to my car in future?
2. What are the consequences of the above ? What kind of loss I will be suffering in future because of this?
3. Should I be worried about anything else here?

Thank you,
Regards,
Kranthi

Hi Kranthi ji,

Happy to assist

For Insurance - its like the way Hotel industry work. They show rack rate initially and then mark up discount
Similary - for insurance - dealer show rack rate premium in insurance first and then adjust OD discount to it (as what forwarded by insurance company)

For other queries
1. Will it impact my insurance claim if anything happens to my car in future?
Nop - it wont impact. You just need to check on 3 things
a) IDV - it will be 95% of exshowroom price
b) No Voluntary Deduction as specified in policy
c) Add on covers - like given policy covers 95% of exshowroom price (which is like a norm). If you seek coverage equivalent to
> On road price of car including road tax and 100% exshowroom price - pls ask dealer to incorporate return to invoice cover
> Also given policy do not cover engine protection and consumable cover - if you seek same for peace of mind can ask dealer for same

This ofcourse will increase premium to extent of rs 3000 to 4000 but will offer more comprehensive coverage to car in event of any unfortunate claim

2. What are the consequences of the above ? What kind of loss I will be suffering in future because of this?
No Consequences - its the norm as stated
Insurance companies check on IDV Value and covers to clear on claim

3. Should I be worried about anything else here?
Nothing as long as specific policy covers and conditions are checked
You can check more details on - Car Insurance Add on Covers

Hope should help !!
