Hello Team,

I just sold my 3 MONTHS old VW Polo TSI AT at a loss of 2.7 lakhs (3500 kms) as I was getting pain in my knee and shin bone due to height of the brake pedal and low slung seating. Was having Swift Vxi 2017 before polo. I am a 6.2 lean guy.

I would like to take your esteemed opinion on my next new car where I don't want to stretch my EMI above 18k per month (60 months) and down payment of 1.2 lakh max.

Thoughts -

1. Ford Freestyle Diesel Titanium Plus -- CON is if Ford pulls out of India
2 Ford Freestyle Petrol -- real world Mileage ?
3. Swift Zxi-- Safety concern and again the same old vehicle
3. Have offer for a used Brezza Vdi ( 30 K odo) 2020 model for 9.2 lakhs

Please help me if we have better options for long term ownership.

Regards,
Karthik

Dear Karthik,

Greetings !!

Yeah Polo should never had been a choice, this car definite has low lung seats

As i understand you seek a car
> Raised Seating
> With good headroom
> Relative easy ingress/egress
> Safety Aspect

and you dont care for petrol / Diesel one
Well a Used car one from Brezza biggest con would be like 3% higher rate in Used car finance (as against New Car Finance)
If you take a finance of say 8 Lakh then for 5 yrs, this 3% higher rate means an extra interest outflow of Rs 60K over New Car - which is like substantial.

With respect to Ford
> Ford Freestyle : This is a crossover, with 6'2" height well headroom would just be strict limited
Also, gap between Brake and Clutch pedal is limited with clutch slight on stiffer note
Basis your discomfort in existing car wont recommend same too

Basis Flexibility of EMI Finance
My Recommendation for your need specific
> Maruti Vitara Brezza Vxi Petrol
> Mahindra XUV300 W6 Petrol - if ready to slight exceed in downpayment budget

With
> Headroom Space reasonable impressive (Brezza is even better, XUV300 would be okay too)
> Light pedals well spaced out
> 4 Star (Brezza) / 5 STar (XUV300)
> Reasonable ease ingress / egress
> Acceptable performance (Brezza) / Fair Impressive Performance (XUV300)

these cars can be a great value pick for need requirement as specified
Somehow Finance done upto 90% on On road Price by leading PSU Banks or if you have Pre approved loan offer from ICICI Bank or HDFC Bank - they can finance with 95% On road price too.

In terms of Finance - say if you have pre approved loan offer from ICICI Bank - they charge in 7.6% Rate
Your location details not referred - presuming Delhi as base, this car on road cost in 9.7 Lakh with extended warranty, basic accessories kit & zero dep insurance. So with 1.2 Lakh as down payment - means EMI will fall in Rs 17000 price bracket

However, for XUV300 if ready to increase downpayment to 2 Lakh then can get in this car in around 18000 EMI pm
May check out as recommended buy

Well - I test drove Freestyle and was okay with headroom. The concern with Freestyle is impact of Ford leaving India.- How is Freestyles Petrol NVH level.

Brezza VDI 2020- This would be on cash (my savings) so no loan will be availed.

What about Swift Zxi?

I am looking to neutralise my loss of 2 lakhs in previous vehicle by gaining in mileage for the new vehicle - Hence looking towards Diesel.

My seeking /Priorities—

Comfort
Safety /Build quality
Mileage

Karthik

Hi Sharma ji,

Regret delay as team member who was supposed to respond was on to a drive trip

As i understand your detailed requirements and yes feel pain of 2 Lakh loss on Polo - i can confirm you that Maruti Vitara Brezza Vdi Diesel would be a long term great pick basis need assessment (provided you are not from Delhi / NCR Zone) :-
> See starting with safety - this is a 4 star safety rated car and with respect to build proven with sole Maruti Car to have strcuture marked stable at 64 Kmph Crash
> 1.3 DDIS is time tested and like Diesel Engine for superior long lasting reliability with peace of mind ownership. Will love in superior mid range
> Pretty Easy INgress and Egress - absolute no issues on same
> Brezza comes with sold Resale and even if you plant to sell it at later stage say 7 yrs down the line can expect relatively better resale
> Ingress and Egress is better with raised seating for commanding view of road
> ABC Pedals well spaced out for ease.

With respect to Ford - although a great car on its own with handling, crossover appeal with immaculate suspension but somehow
> Lack of Updates by Ford Cars India across whether you speak of Freestyle or Ecosport
> Lacks Modern age features in Ford Cars in Mass range Figo, Aspire, Freestyle - no sync3 live navigation, no projector, no rear armrest, no drl and slight boring interior making present age modern age car buyers away (see seating quality comparison in attachment)
> Limited Pedal Gap between Brake and Clutch may be slight discomfort
> Not as fun experience - no where close to Polo TSI At you were driving and neither Brezza Diesel

Ford is facing stiff stimes. Although they wont leave but with continuously falling sales - lack of updates and rumors only do more harm to even existing owners in used car market with impact on resale.

If you are indeed from Delhi / NCR
Well from Comfort - Safety and Mileage on the go
Somehow Swift rather scored slight average, my suggestion would be Maruti Ertiga CNG in New Car Market. Use it as 5 seater one by foling 3rd row and slide 2nd row to maximum back.
> Rather better with 3 star rating
> Fuel Efficient in CNG
> Suspension is matured to offer comfort and stability
> One among most popular in second hand car market
> Despite of CNG - no dearth of power - ideal for relaxed drive

Hope should help !!

Gagan Ji ,

Namaste. Thanks for the detailed explanation.

How would Baleno be ? Just a thought - Better NVH than Brezza VDI and also will take new car loan to divert that money for some investment to buy SUV few years down the lane ( saw ur sharemarket video for car)

I think Swift is omitted- already used a swift before Polo.

So the choice is between- used Brezza VDI and now Baleno in the scheme.

Thanks
Karthik

Hi,

Indeed Baleno feels like more value especially in Delta Variant which is what feature loaded with almost all modern age lifestyle features
> LED Projectors
> Auto Climate Control
> Defogger
> Power Fold ORVM
> 16 Inch Wheels with Wheel Cover
> PS, All 4 Power Windiw, Remote Lock

Drives will in 1.2 Litre Engine, very spacious, fuel efficient with near best segment mileage
and Baleno yes feels like slight more sturdier as against Swift

Do note that for Safety Aspect - most important one in descending order
> Speed of Car
> Seat Belt
> Driver Skills by following speed limit, distance, lane drive approach
> Active Safety as ABS, Braking, Headlight Visibility, Wider Tyres
> Passive Safety as Airbags, Build Quality

Yes from Value buy perspective - Baleno Delta can well be considered with superior NVH Levels and Petrol car engine are more refined
I endorse in for Baleno Delta from Value buy perspective to be considered.

Hope should help !!
