This is going to be my first car. I do not want to stretch my budget beyond 12.5 L. I have liked Nexon Petrol variant(2021 model) too, However after test driving Ecosport Diesel BS6 variant, I am inclined towards going for a diesel engine as there is noticeable performance difference while driving. Problem is, Nexon Diesel variants are priced 2 Lacs more than their petrol counterparts. I came across a used car listing for XUV 300 W8(O) diesel variant. Price listed on cars 24 is 10.3L . The car is non accidental and ran for around 19K kilometers with couple of minor scratches on door sides, alloy wheels. They have listed oil spillage on idle as minor imperfection in engine. I am fairly new to cars market to know how major/minor that issue is and have several questions in mind.

1. I am yet to inspect the car myself but assuming information on listing is correct, Is it a good market value for the car as described above?
2. How good is Cars24 as a platform, I see several people complaining about the delays in RC transfer process and issues with honoring warranty. I get that those complains may not highlight both sides and many details such as age and condition of car so wanted to know from the forum about their feedback of Cars 24.
3. Is XUV 300 W8(O) Diesel a good option for used car? (It's likely going to be BSIV variant, so concerned about BS6 diesel issues i read on some sites).
4. If it's good option to consider, what precautions/ steps I should take to make sure i do not get a problematic car.

Hi Akshay,

Greetings !!

First thing first - April 2019 model means that
> it was a car from initial batches
> There was a noise from suspension as an evident issue in car from initial batches

Now coming to price aspect: On road price was close to 14.25 Lakh at that point of time in Mumbai, Pune zone for top of line XUV300 W8 Option Diesel. However also important to note that this car was well available with a Lakh discounts within a year for stock clearance of BS4 Models.

Also, Oil Slippage issue on idle is not definite a minor imperfction rather needs immediate attention and repair. If not corrected - will lead to loss of engine oil, and possibly fire too in worst case scenario. There can be many reasons for spill and best to take a trained mechanic who can inspect on to same.

Also important
> Is there a valid insurance policy with the car. If yes, thats great as same can be transferred to your name.
> Does original owner too Extended Warranty Policy

Point is - 10.3 Lakh is not a small amount by any perspective on car which is evident to have
> SUspension noise issue
> Oil Slippage issue

and if there is no extended warranty available with model - it further brings down the momentum
This car due to oil slippage needs a comprehensive inspection from Mahindra service center, and spending 10.3 Lakh is not recommended.

Overall - wont recommend to consider this Used Car as not only slight over priced basis discounting factor as was there in early 2020 on BS4 cars, but even has niggles related to initial batch.

Hope should help !!
