I am planning to buy a petrol automatic under 15 lakhs. I have shortlisted ford ecosport petrol automatic and nissan kicks top end turbo automatic. I am an ex serviceman and i can avail csd facility also. Among two my heart goes to Nissan kicks. My only worry is will nissan continue this car and shall i go with and buy nissan kicks. If you have any other suggestion let me know. My requirement is automatic .

Dear Karthikeyan.

Nissan Kicks CVT Turbo is definite a lot more interesting choice in terms of
> Fun experience where CVT mask in lag and makes car lot more driveable in performance factor
> Relative more spacious as against Ecosport
> More upmarket in Interiors and Features

and definite feels a notch above product. But important to assess in reality too
> Korean Rivals Creta and Seltos almost outperformed Kicks basis superior cost of ownership, after sales, features and plethora of choice
> Somehow 1.3 Turbo Engine has relative components which are imported and reliability is unknown
> For buyers who seek fun experience now also has Skoda Kushaq Turbo at competitive price and in few months VW Taigun to also be launched
> There is a big concern on after sales service network of Nissan with quiet limited network
> Unlike Magnite which was a budget SUV, Kicks is a full size premium Car which cost more than 15 Lakh on road and sales figures matters a lot
> Renault Duster CVT as alternate is available and duster holds better brand position against Kicks in Indian Market

Here is what Kicks CVT sales is struggling to be even in triple digits. Can you believe
> Kicks sales for first half of 2021 - combined sales is not even 1000 units
> Kicks Sales in second half of 2020 - combined sales is less than 750 cars

With the fact :-
> Sales strugged to lows of mere 100 Cars
> Profitability is at question as Nissan dealers were selling car with almost Rs 1 Lakh plus discount including exchange
> A Fact where Kicks marked tag of flop car in sales perspective and fact where competition increasing to new highs

With fact that Turbo engine components are imported - spare parts / reliability is unknown for long term scenario

To our belief - Manufacturer may just continue sales of Kicks as stop gap till time they introduce in couple of more cars in portfolio in Indian Market in next 18 months to 24 months but to best of our understanding - Kicks hold no future and yes resale will be poor along with a question on reliavility aspect.

Hope should help !!
