Dear Praveen Sahab,

Greetings !!

Great to e meet you.

Compact SUV Cars comes with lower fuel efficiency as a challenge primarily due to
> Kerb Weight
> Tall Body Design
> Wider Tyres

40 Kms daily drive say for 25 days implies 1000 Kms a month and weekend trips and other outstaion trips means your average tearly usage would be tune of 15000 KMs

If you somehow choose in Diesel, then been shelve life of Diesel Cars is 10 years based on NGT order, you may not be able to enjoy long lasting ownership.

Considering Petrol-Diesel thing, usage requirement and been good height in consideration - my suggestion is to check out

1. Mahindra XUV300 W8 Petrol
> Brilliant Car in Performance, Safety
> Multi Mode Steering can be adjusted to sports mode for superior feel feedback
> Well spacious cabin in terms of headroom, legroom (although you may have to place driver seat slight lower to have head not touching in roof)
> One among handlful of compact SUV which offers comfort oriented ride
> Loaded wtth Impressive Features for lifestyle, safety

Yes
> Interior aesthetics feel slight dated
> Cabin Sound Insulation levels not the best, can feel wind noise
> Suspension dynamics although good - but dont confuse it as off roader - its not same, can experience noise levels in cabin

2. Maruti Vitara Brezza Zxi Plus Top of Line Fully Loaded Model with strong USP
> Compact SUV with one among best in class headroom space (neck to neck to Ecosport)
> Suspension Dynamics of Brezza are well sorted to offer plush ride
> 1.5 Litre Petrol Engine has lot of grunt for day to day use
> One among better fuel efficient cars in CSUV segment, can get in 12 to 13 Kmpl
> Proven 4 Star Safety Rating

Although Ecosport is another geart choice basis safety, lifestyle features but will pick Brezza over Ecosport as another contender due to
> Superior Mileage, Ecosport Petrol almost comes with segment lowest fuel efficiency in Petrol
> Suspension is relative stiff and do not offer comfort on day to day usage in NCR Roads

For Brezza,
> Interiors and plastic quality feel dated
> Rear Seat Slight in Upright position - which is slight a discomfort for those who going to sit on rear seat, can be deal breaker
> Highway Dynamics beyond 100 Speed in terms of steering feedback not impressive

So if you can drive in controlled speed then Brezza Zxi PLus is a great choice consideration

Suggest to experience in XUV300 as first pick followed by Brezza - am sure will make a right choice

Hope should help !!

Okay, yes is equally important to have opinion of better half
if she did not liked interiors of XUV300 and reject same then 2 choices

1. If flexible to increase in budget by 5% to 12.5 Lakh and look beyond compact SUV as Mid SUV
then Hyundai Creta Ex Petrol is there as a great all round pick basis
> Spacious Family Car Factor
> Pleasing Interiors
> 1.5 Litre Petrol Engine feels very refined
> Soft suspension offers comfort oriented ride
> Light Steering, Clutch is fair light too
> Very reliable product and yes quiet competitve service cost

If you sell Creta even after 7 years, will find resale better than Compact SUV

Downside
> Lacks highway handling aspect
> Safety aspect is still questionable as Seltos scored 3 star

2. Else if you seek Compact SUV then consider in Kia Sonet HTX IMT
> Pleasing dual tone interiors (as against most other variants available in black interiors, Venue too is in black interiors)
> Most Stylish Compact SUV in Segment. LED Headlights are pretty impressive
> Turbo Petrol Engine is responsive and IMT makes it fair convenient to drive in
> Feature Loaded with HTX now comes with improved safety of ESP, Brake Assist and Traction Control (which was missing earlier)
> Also HTX Variant now gets Alloys wheels too (prices just been higher to tune of Rs 50,000 On road as against launch prices)
> Equipped with Lifestyle Features to deliver upmarket feel
> Highway dynamics are pretty well sorted with relative better handling as against Creta too. Suspension tuned towards firm side

Downside
> Safety aspect is still questionable as Seltos scored 3 star
> Rear Seat Legroom is quiet compact

So, may consider in either among those basis

Why not Nexon: Although much improved in BS6 but
> Engine Noise levels are on higher note
> Cabin Sound Insulation yes feels higher
> Tata After sales service still a question
> Feels relative higher body roll on higher speed despite with ESP

Hope should help !!
