Budget for new car is 10-11 lakhs at Delhi.
Average run is 1000 km per month
Looking for Petrol Car.
Dezire is registered in Delhi

Should I wait till Diwali to avail offers or go for purchase earlier as my old car would be nearing the completion of 10 years.

Hi Himanshu,

Greetings !!

Used Car Valuation
As you aware that NGT Bench passed order where in diesel cars beyond 10 year are not allowed to ply in Delhi and NCR Zone
This has seriously impacted in valuation price of used diesel cars. However, having said same been the car in question is a BS4 Model - means, can well be re-registered and transferred to Rajasthan, Punjab, Select Cities of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh (beyond NCR Zone), Uttarakhand too.

Although if you try to sell it through dealer in exchange - they may offer limited value, stating that just a year left in expiry of vehicle. But as NOC can easily be issue and car can be re-registered in other cities - i suggest to explore option where in can get in 2.5 Lakh even as value of car, if excellent maintained with tyres & battery having more than 50% life legt by connecting with nearby cities dealers (stating NOC can be issued) or online medium

Do note that Dzire has one among best resale value in used car market, and if car registered in other city can well be driven for 6 more years.

Automatic Car for Solo Use
If solo use then Polo TSI Automatic is a great choice.
VW Polo is recently been introduced in Comfortline TSI Automatic at a price proposition of Rs 8.34 Lakh, which makes it a great all round contender with 1 Litre TSI Engine in 6 Speed Torque converter.
> Excellent Handling
> Best in class steering feedback
> Fun to drive with great mid range
> Turbo lag although there but is well masked in Automatic transmission - you wont observe lot
> Top Notch Paint Quality to beat in Delhi scorching summer from any major effect on to it
> Suspension dynamics are well sorted

You will love in every bit of it and for peace of mind ownership can have
> although 4 year standard warranty is there but can take extended warranty of add on 3 years translating to 7 yr warranty
> 5 Year VW Service care pack Pack (premium Hi care pack) for Polo TSI Automatic available for Rs 39,000, which include common wear & tear items too

Will love in Peace of Mind Ownership
Lastly be assured - Skoda VW india increased localisation to a great extent - you will not find car to be as costly to maintain as it was 4 to 5 yrs back/ Hope should help !!

Thanks for your prompt and informative response.
VW Polo is a good safe car.

What is your opinion about Baleno or Breeza..

Baleno CVT is a good choice basis CVT Automatic, Fuel Efficiency, Reliablity, Spacious Car feel and Cost of Ownership but somehow
> Dark Interiors
> Plastic Quality
> Relative Stiff Suspension

do not make it as good.

Polo biggest negate is rear seat - which seems striked off been your requirement of solo car for most of times

Brezza - well for local Delhi roads i think Polo TSI would be lot better suited for need, requirement as against Brezza Vxi 4 Speed AT
Brezza interiors, steep pricing for Automatic takes away the experience,

Hope should help !!

Gagan ji,
I would love to own a Polo, infact I had gone to purchase Polo, before buying Dzire.
But as you had stated, negate in Polo is rear space compromise.
Since I would be having only one car for family and solo drive, would like to have one which has enough rear comfort and good enough boot space for long drives as well.
What's your opinion of Venue or kia sonet imt or automatic,or may be Honda jazz.
My age is 57,and my daily commute is 15-20 km only.
Weekend drive have gone for toss now but hopefully, things should be ok in future.
So far I have not taken any test drive due to Covid situation.

Dear Himanshu ji,

Thanks for sharing updated details
As you referred earlier solo drive earlier, hence recommendation was stated based on same

But, been
> Solo Car which is to be used for both local / highway use for family
> Considering age factor where relaxed drive and comfortable ride quality is an important consideration

Kind note that
> Venue
> Sonet

although has good ingress and egress been relative tall car but somehow are quiet limited in terms of rear seat legroom space, if front seats are adjusted to someone with height of 5'10" - 5'11". Infact - rear seat legroom feels relative to almost the most compact in Compact SUV Segment

Basis updated details, I suggest to consider in
1. Honda Jazz CVT : With budget in your side, can get in Vx or even top of line Zx CVT (although Sunroof is not useful in conditions of Delhi) - so may slip for Vx CVT.
> CVT Automatic response is butter smooth for day to day usage within city and may even explore Paddle shifter occassionally to have slight fun too if seek from car by slotting in sports mode
> Feels sturdy in build quality and pleasing interior aesthetics - feels more upmarket
> Impressive features List in Jazz Vx CVT with better lifestyle features - Touchscreen, Live Navigation, Camera, Push Ignition, Cruise control, Front Armrest, Auto AC with impressive sound quality
> Very Spacious with loads of legroom and headroom (although downside is fixed headrest on rear seat - which is not comfy if people sitting on rear seat are tall)
> Suspension dynamics are well sorted
> Well Reliable product from Honda

> Bi-Annual Service interval which will make scheduled service cost beyond Rs 10,000 on annualised basis
> As referred about rear seat headrest, no center seat amrrest on rear and no rear ac vents (AC cooling is average)
> 1.2 Engine is satisfactory, but not fun (however if you love relaxed drive - can negate this point)

2. Maruti Vitara Brezza Vxi Automatic / Toyota Urban Cruiser Mid Auto
Although yes Interior aesthetics, plastic quality feels like yester year Maruti Cars,
Black interiors not appreciated and Automatic Model carries steep price premium over Manual Transmission but
> From comfort ride perspective - suspension is fair well sorted
> 1.5 Litre Petrol Engine has sufficient power delivery to give decent performance in day to day city use
> Although not fun, but 4 Speed Automatic is tuned for city use
> Excellent headroom space, legroom space
> Light Steering, Good all round visibility
> Reliable product, only car from Maruti Suzuki to score in 4 Star

Downside: -
> As refered about dated Interiors, Plastic, Black Theme
> Highway dyamics feels quiet average (steering feedback is average on higher speed)
> Rear Seat are placed in slight upright position (suggest to have your family seated on rear seat while going for test drive)

To view, basis updated details
> Honda Jazz CVT - would rather be first pick. This car feels premium
followed by Maruti Vitara Brezza Vxi Automatic - if ease of ingress and egress is another important criteria from you.

Hope should help !!
