Dear sir,
I want to buy a new car and this will be my first car.
my budget is about 8 lakhs. I will purchase car on finance after paying approximate 2lakhs as down payment.

I selected few cars of Maruti- wagon R (CNG), Baleno and swift but I am confused about fuel type which is better CNG or petrol. in term of running cost definitely CNG is good option but my running is not more than 30km/day.

please suggest me which is a good buy wagon R cng or baleno/swift even in the low running per day. CNG filling station available in my city (Kanpur-UP). I like baleno/swift as compare to wagon R cng but as per current scenario petrol price hike day by day many people suggest me to buy wagor r cng. As I told you my running is not more than 30km/day except 1-2 family tour in a year.

please suggest me you expert opinion which car is a best buy?

Dear Vivek,

Greetings !!

Yes, Petrol Prices are highly influenced by steep tax regime in India and thats not going to change in near future too
With lockdown impacting government revenue - that day is not far away when will see Petrol crossing in 100 mark in almost all cities in India. So is correct to assess in future requirement of car

As you referred that near around 99% of usage going to be local use where
> Average speed are low
> Mileage tends to be on lower side due to city traffic

it makes all sense to consider in a CNG Car to have an alternate fuel choice to
> Beat in high Petrol Price
> Go Green Fuel

Saving in Petrol & CNG
With CNG Price if taken as base for Kanpur as say Rs 65 / Kg, expect cars like
> Wagon R CNG - to deliver you fuel efficiency of 22 Km/ CNG in real life condition
> Grand i10 Nios CNG - to deliver you fuel efficiency of 20 Km/ CNg in real life condition

as against Petrol Cars where
> Swift, Baleno - would be hovering in range of 13 to 14 Kmpl

With say an average yearly running of 10,000 Kms - this translates to near annual saving of Rs 40,000
Factoring in high insurance premium and service upkeep maintenance of air filter and CNG Filter - net minimum yearly saving will account to Rs 35,000 - which is what substantial saving.

Issues
Now the only issue with respect to CNG is gas filling which may take long queues
If you have proximity to a CNG Station in nearby viciny - basis your average running - you will be required for a refill once a week and may go as per convenient time for same

Recommended Car
I suggest to rather check out Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG instead of Maruti Wagon R CNG. Been budget on your side
> 1.2 Litre 4 cylinder engine definite feels more lively as against 1 Litre 3 cylinder engine of Wagon R
> Nios feels more upmarket, more stylish and yes relative better feature loaded too
> Somhow handling and suspension of Nios feels better as against Wagon R

Check out more on Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG

Hope should help !!
