Greetings !!

Considering fact that
> You going to have substantial usage on highway
> a Diesel Car in lot

Its important to shortlist a car basis
> handling dynamics
> Steering Feedback

and yes equally good importance to safety, build quality. Also as you have experienced Hyundai Santro - car should be reliable and impressive in after sales service experience too

Here are Top 2 Recommended cars for need
Ford Ecosport Trend Diesel: An excellent choice basis
> Highway Dynamics. You will love in Steering feedback and high speed handling aspect - near the best
> Punchy Diesel Engine which is torquey and lot fun to drive
> Impressive Build Quality with standard safety of ABS & Dual Airbags
> Ford India slashed prices of Ecosport Trend Diesel in 2021 by good Rs 35,000 making car economical by almost Rs 40,000 on road - value proposition
> Competitive Cost of Ownership

This car nearly ticks all boxes. However yes
> Suspension is slight firm. So if to drive on bad roads in city will observe same in cabin
> Not very spacious in terms of width. For rear best to have 2 adults . Legroom is just okay (however - recline angle and under-thigh support is awesome)
> Boot at 350 Litre but is flat floor type boot and is good enough to load luggage

Tata Nexon XM Diesel
> Great pick in safety aspect been equipped with not only 5 star build but with ESP & Traction Control too
> Good Steering feedback on higher speed
> Space aspect is marginally better in nexon (however, pls note that somehow sloping design needs one to adjust to adjust driving seat slight lower. Ecosport has better ingress and egress as against nexon)
> Good Fun to drive with sports mode to real enjoy the best (but sports mode comes at cost of mileage)

However,
> Wind noise and Engine Noise felt in cabin on higher speed
> Tata After sales service is not great
> Scheduled service cost would be marginally on higher side as against Ecosport

But, Tata Strength too is 1.5 Crdi Diesel Engine and Nexon shines in same

Pls check - Car Service Cost

Overall
Suggest to have test drive and experience. In terms of
> Fun to drive, better handling, Cost of Ownership - Ecosport Trend Diesel is a winner
But
> Care for even advanced safety features, slight more space as key requirement - Tata Nexon XM Diesel is a good choice too

Hope should help !!

Hi,

As you specified goot boot space as criteria - kind note that XUV300 has smallest boot space in Compact SUV Segment at just 265 Litre
Secondly, prices are higher and XUV300 W6 Diesel is priced almost Rs 80,000 higher in on road than Ecosport Trend Diesel and will exceed in budget.

Hence XUV300 ignored as recommendation.
Although is a very capable vehicle and comes with better space, but Ecosport still remains a benchmark basis highway dynamics as criteria.

Hope it helps !!

Hello,
1.I took test drive of Nexon xm Diesel, felt a small lag until 2000 rpm then it was very good.
2. Also felt some discomfort and space during ingress n out in back seat.
3.Also trying to avoid installing Android with reverse camera from dealer.
So planning to increase my onroad budget to 12lacs.
Please suggest if we can go for Nexon xz or suggest a good car for my requirements

Hi,

See if you are flexbile to increase budget and seek a car majorly for
> Highway
> Safety as important parameter
> Reliable Car, Power Pickup

My suggestion is to consider in Ford Ecosport Diesel. Now basis taxes in your zone is what
> Ecosport Titanium Diesel
or
> Seek more and flexible further then Ecosport Sports Diesel (SE Diesel although a great pick but misses on spare tyre)

You will be impressed with
> Lag Free pickup, just punches from 1500 rpm for a strong mid range
> Better Ingress and Egress
> Feature loaded Ecosport Titanium Diesel and with advanced modern age SE & Sports Diesel

Been Safety is included as an important criteria and if can go ahead by slight increasing budget for Ecosport Sports Diesel - am sure you will be like having the best.

Hello,
Thank you , I will check n test drive ecosports.

Can you please suggest how Honda Amaze will be for my requirements.

Hi,

As your requirement is
> Good ground clearance.
> 60 % Highways driving

Amaze comes with soft suspension and steering dynamics feels very average for higher speed
Not recommended.

Hello,
Thank you for the comments.
We went and saw ES Titanium as Trend is not having ESP , Traction control.
But one concern is our family don't like sunroof.
Can you please suggest a better one for 10 to12 lacs onroad.

Hi,

I just need to tell on - Sunroof is there globally across range of cars, if you dont like can keep it close
But there is no harm to structural integrity been same is factory fitted.

Also, basis need as specified
1.Safety, Mileage and Comfort
2.Good Boot space ,reliable engine and with good ground clearance.
3. Mine will be 40% City and 60 % Highways driving
4. Currently looking for a Diesel car as it will give more Mileage and Torque

Best buy would be
> Tata Nexon XM Diesel
> Ford Ecosport Titanium Diesel and onwards

Somehow any other choice like Kia Sonet Diesel would be more like compromise as Sonet other than GT DIesel lacks in advanced safety and post Seltos crash test rating available of 3 star - cant really give better to Sonet too.

Hyundai Venue again is like following footstep of Kia Sonet and cant really recommend same, unless exceed in budget for Sx Option Diesel

Rest,
> XUV300 comes with smaller boot space
> Crossover Freestyle too comes with smaller boot space

So i suggest to either think to work on your preference factor or if cant modify same then Nexon or Ecosport are default pick.

Hello,
Thank you for your comments.
Based in your comments we gave decided to choose Nexon.
Now trying to extend budget for xz +Diesel (it will 13.5 lacs onroad) as we can avoid after market android , fog lamp etc..

1.Please suggest is it worth to go for xz+ D or pick xm D then add retrofit.

2. Since budget will come around 13.5 is it wise to choose compact suv or should I look for suv for my below expectations.

1.Safety, Mileage and Comfort

Hi,

Good sensible choice !!

1.Please suggest is it worth to go for xz+ D or pick xm D then add retrofit.

Absolutely, retro fitment cant match in finesse of factory fit. Also differences are just too much
Pls refer - Nexon XZ Plus Features

2. Since budget will come around 13.5 is it wise to choose compact suv or should I look for suv for my below expectations.

Although Kia Seltos HTK Diesel is a great all round choice basis
> Engine refinement
> Space
> Styling
> Service cost

But, only issue is that 3 star safety rating
So, if you dont want to compromise on same then Nexon XZ Plus Diesel is a great pick
can go ahead with same

Hi,

Okay, so if you want to go with Nexon XM Diesel then
> Insurance is definite overpriced, Nexon XM Diesel with Zero Dep Insurance and Engine Protection will cost in Rs 32,000
> SBI Referral Discount (scheme going for last 6 months) is Rs 3000 Discount (if you apply through SBI Yono app will be eligible for it, april discounts will likely be updated later by evening)
> Although there is limited supplies but yes Dealer Level Discounts to tune of Rs 5000 Accessories or cash discount can well be negotiated too

Hope should help !!
