Dear Mr.Gagan Modi,

i like your web site and with the frankness with which you share the information. Was very happy to pay the amount as well as you deserve for your time on my question.

I am driving Ford Figo petrol 11 years old card with 50k driving so my driving is less you can understand here. i am single user of the car. so my ford car is too good to sell i still chose to upgrade to SUV or a bigger car for my family 3 adults (incl myself) + grown up kids.

i need few suggestion on choosing my car. i raised my questions below.(attached payment receipt of paypal)
( i am disappointed that you made me to create a paypal account which i never intended to do)

1) Safety of the car is very important for me.
2) Not for Glamorous features but needs is a must.
3) I am looking for a SUV budgeted around 12-15lakhs(on road) petro min. 1.5ltr and definitely manual transmission
4) My short listing was S cross Zeta/Alpha & Creta EX or Creta S. ( some how i feel Seltos is not a good built and lot of rolling while you drive)
5) For me rear parking camera is a necessity.
6) Road clearance should be good
7) Without much bumps and should not feel noice inside car
8) 3-4 time i go on highway for say 300-500kms (1/2 sides)
8) need a good AC ofcourse
9) Like good comforts
10) entertainment system connectable to my phone so that i can attend calls, play songs, use google maps etc.
11) if you suggest lower end of versions, what kind of accessories and how can include in my car
12) Insurance needs

2 additional clarification:

3 Adults + 2 kids.
51k Kms fod drove.
3-4 times highway drive is in a year.
i want to keep this car for long say 15 yrs atleast..
i am 46 now.

look forward to eagerly here from you.

Warm Regards

Greetings !!

Considering requirement as specified including a car for
> Long Lasting Reliability
> Comfort Oriented Drive
> Peace of Mind Ownership
along with other details as specified

Best bet for need, requirement is Hyundai Creta S Petrol with strong reasons in favor
> 1.5 Litre Petrol Engine comes with top notch refinement
> Comfort Oriented Drive. Will love light steering which weighs well on higher speed
> Very reliable, Hyundai Offers class leading reliable products with excellent after sales service
> Loaded with all Essential Features including Projectors, Touchscreen, Camera, Auto Climate Control with Rear AC, ABS EBD, Dual Airbags, TPMS and when you will move on highways has cruise control
> Yes You can pair phone with Music system and definite can receive phone calls with steering mount controls
> Also, Creta S is Fair loaded with Defogger, Front Fog Light and other features which enhances ownership experience

Yes Air conditioning is reasonable effective with rear AC Vents, Automatic Climate Control

Safety Features
Although no advanced safety but comes with all basic essentials
> ABS with EBD
> Dual Airbags
> Front Fog Light
> TPMS
> Steering adapative parking guidelines

S Cross on other hand comes with stiff suspension and although car performs in reasonable impressive way on higher speed, but not that comfort oriented in city use as what Hyundai Creta feels.

To View Creta S can be excellent choice and car yes is fair loaded to deliver a superior experience

Downside
> Not the best in highway dynamics due to soft suspension
> Lacks advanced safety of ESP, Side & Curtain Airbags in S
> Somehow comes with 16 Inch Styled Wheels (which are essentially steel wheel) and despite spending in close to 15 Lakh will miss on Alloys
> Design Language - somehow exterior design language is not to everyone liking

But Creta S is a reasonable good choice, and offers an excellent upgrade choice
Suggest to have test drive and experience,

Hello Srinivas ji,

Greetings !!
Regret to see that you are disapponted with team revert. Let me try and assist on your need

Figo is known for immaculate steering feedback, and if am correct Figo you have used to come with Hydraulic Steering which perform exceptionally well on highway. Somehow modern age cars are available with Electric Power Steering and if i tell you the feel and feedback which you been experiencing in present cars range can only be best felt in very few cars

Now, coming to requirement - if you intend to shortlist in between Creta and Seltos then as Product per se Hyundai Creta has definite edge in terms of
> More Refined and more responsive Petrol Engine
> Ride Feels more Comfort Oriented and despite of SUV feels Plush
> As already explained is very reliable product and be assured is low maintenance one.

Basis all the requirements referred
5) For me rear parking camera is a necessity.
1) Safety of the car is very important for me.
2) Not for Glamorous features but needs is a must.

Trust - Hyundai Creta delivers a great experience and almost meets all need and requirement in S Model except the only apprehension which is of Safety Aspect.

Although Car loaded with standard safety but yes - Safety Aspect is what not been tested in new generation Creta, and certainly a doubt also feature in especially after 3 star rating received in Seltos.

Alternate Choice: I suggest to check out Maruti Brezza Zxi Plus / Toyota Urban Cruiser High Variant at lower end of budget
> 1.5 Litre 4 cylinder Petrol Engine feels best tuned in Brezza and car feels good to go
> Suspension tuned towards comfort oriented and can take on city bad roads at ease
> Very Reliable Product and yes car fuel efficiency is comparatively better
> Top of Line Fully Loaed Model for Lifestyle experience (without Gimmick of Sunroof)
> Proven 4 Star Safety Rated Car from House of Maruti Suzuki

Although yes Plastic Quality, Interior Aesthetics feels average but trust the experience which this car offers in with all round package can be an excellent pick for need.

Why Brezza over S Cross: After it came to notice few months back that S Cross based on heartect Platform (and simultaneously Seltos rating came in) - somehow lack of Safety Rating and fact that S Cross perform better on highway, but Brezza delivers better comfort on city use - revised recommendation of Brezza over S Cross

Our Revised Recommendation: Maruti Brezza Zxi Plus / Toyota Urban Cruiser High
Has in all to meet in at 12 Lakh Budget for a great all round package experience for long lasting ownership.

Paypal: Dont worry - its Safe as global acclaimed number 1 in payment solution.
Still if you want you can delete your card details in paypal and cancel account.

Hope should help !!
For any further query - feel feel to post in.

All the Best !!

Dear Mr.Gagan,

It is good to here from you directly. Nice of you.

The reason for my exclusion of Seltos is also completely like you mentioned safety perspective. I will think over excluding S cross as well.

Liked your thought process and suggestions. I will explore further.

if any suggestions more shall ask you.

thanks & good day.

Dear Mr.Gagan.

I was probably foremost buyer of FordFigo petrol when it was launched 11 years ago and excellent steering. great feel of the steering. I drove recently 600kms on Highway continuously and it was awesome.

I find Breza and Toyota cruiser smaller to my requirement, especially rear seat.
is it right to wait for MG smaller SUV which they plan to launch, your suggestion/thoughts please.
if i upgrade my plans from Creta S to Creta SX for better safety features does it make sense? Is it worth(apart from good brand & service)

Do you have any further suggestions. I some do not wish to buy Sedan.
Thanks
Regards

Hi,

If you upgrade from Creta S to Sx - although will get ESP and all 4 disc brakes but spending almost 2 Lakh higher - it doesnt make much of difference espeically from Safety Aspect. Having said same yes will get better lifestyle features including
> Panoramic Sunroof
> LED Lights
> Alloys
> Bigger Touchscreen
> Better Rear Seat Comfort

MG Zs is a Euro NCAP 5 Star Rated Car and expected Prices in Petrol would likely be in range of Rs 12 Lakh to 16 Lakh (ex-showroom). Car would be branded as MG Astor. Although driven Zs car, but that was EV and yes very well sturdy build

If flexible to wait then yes MG Astor can be worth a wait.

Dear Mr Gagan Modi,

I was still looking at option and I find Nexon rear with white patch as pathetic design and a monumental blunder by the Manufacturer. As white colour fades and dirts the car rear looks very bad.

I was looking at Mahindra XuV with a good rear space and excellent safety features.. which model you would suggest..

with good power and fun to drive model on earn in this XUV300 is low boot for me

Pl guide

Oh yes, XUV300 Petrol is a great choice
I thought that you considering Naturally Aspirated Petrol Engine, been categorically referred in
3) I am looking for a SUV budgeted around 12-15lakhs(on road) petro min. 1.5ltr and definitely manual transmission

Mahindra XUV300 Petrol W8 is good, but is W8 Option is what a great choice product in Safety, Handling, Near Lag free performance except 2 misses
> Somhow insulation levels not the best. can feel noise from suspension when driven on bad roads or engine nose when driving at high speed
> Yes Boot Space is on smaller side, infact smallest in segment. But flip side is that in seating cabin feels spacious

Suggest to refer post on details on XUV300 Review should help on same.

Dear Mr.Gagan Modi,

i have been watching all of your review on various things as i am in a final stages of deciding which car to buy

I have written my choices here pl suggest:

1) Buy Creta E - Petrol - and include through Hyundai Mobils the following: Infotainment system Keylargo 970 -10.1, Alloy Wheels(alloy/or steel does it make a difference),integrated roof rails-silver, signature cascading grills, Rear Parcel try, Rear window sunshade, Steering Wheel leather rap, Rear & Front skid plate, Sharkfinantena. Could not find Grear lock from them(which is the best place to do this in chennai).Insurance i will do on my own.
Ex showroom chennai - 1102990+206300(insurnace+all above) comes to Rs.1309290/-

2) Mahindra i prefer W8 O. The road visibility is awesome without seat lifting in this car. Boot is enough to cary 4 bages easily. I am ok with this.
Good enough for 3 and cabin is spacious. Safety no issues with 5 start rating and generally great reviews.

But pl suggest which one is suitable or ideal/future oriented vehicle which i should buy is it petrol or diesel? and Why? I just drove petrol MT its good.

My daily drive is 40 kms generally point to Point and overall twice/thrice high way max.

3) SCross - Petrol Zeta version

What do you think is the final choice and best suitable for me.

thanks for your patience and suggestion as always. Great insight by you in your yesterday video on 2021 new SUVs expected

Look forward to hear.

Hi,

To make it easy for you - if boot space is not a deal breaker then its better to go with Mahindra XUV300 W8 Option
Do note that XUV300 was actually designed as full size SUV against Creta Rival, but boot was chopped with design done so as to fit in as sub 4 meter one. With XUV300 W8 Option you get
> Dream Safety Features - Fully Loaded with highest active, passive safety and yes 5 star safety
> Superior Power Delivery in Petrol Engine (almost no lag) and picks cleanly. More Fun to drive and engaging against Creta
> All Factory level fitment which comes with better precision and quality as against retro fitment for peace of mind

and yes in cabin seating space is good with almost similar wheelbase at 2600mm as what you get in Creta which is at 2610 mm
Refer - XUV300 W8 Option

Yes Engine NVH is lower in Creta with superior sound insulation at higher speed on Creta, but the fact is value proposition perspective (if boot space is not a deal breaker) makes all sense to consider in XUV300 W8 Option.

S Cross apprehension as earlier referred is heartect platform which scored low on Ertiga at 3 star, in event of crash ratings of S Cross not available - theres always an apprehension on back of mind.

Hope should help !!

Dear Mr Gagan Modi

Keeping in view the following I have decided to go for W8 dS O AMT:

1) Better mileage in diesel
2) Comparitively Diesel cheaper price to Petrol
3) Higher Engine capacity 1.5ltr Turbo
4) Seamless and pick up
5) Thought of going for AMT
6) wish to use many years

Your thoughts and suggestions pl

Hi,

If you considering from AMT Perspective, then yes XUV300 AMT Diesel feels more responsive against Petrol AMT and not even that - will rate XUV300 Diesel AMT by far the best among AMT Cars. Thanks to immense torque - car at no moment feels
> Jerky as what else some of the competitoon car feels
> Lack of Power

and seamless response to it.
Adding on, 1 interesting thing about XUV300 Diesel is that engine oil replacement is every 20,000 Kms / 2 years as against XUV300 Petrol having oil replacement every 10,000 Kms / 1 year - this makes XUV300 Scheduled service cost lower too

You can check same on MyCarHelpline Service Calculator.

Looking at all choices, is Duster not a good choice at this price bracket. It ticks all the boxes except features and interior quality.
It is CVT, great ride on off road too. spacious and long reliability in the Indian market.

My suggestion would Duster.

Mahindra XUV300 is in a different level of car in terms of safety 5 star Global NCAP & 4 star Children.. Drive experience is awesome as well
