Hello Gagan Sir,
I am huge fan of your work on YouTube. I really like your honest and practical opinions for all things related to cars. I can certainly say it's one of the most useful autocar channels I've come across.
Today, I am seeking your advise between Nexon XZ petrol and Ecosport Titanium 2021 Diesel. I have actually been researching for last one month and have found these two cars to be most fit for my requirements in Compact SUV segment. I was owning an i20 sportz diesel earlier with 1.4L option. So, I am looking for more fun to drive car than that for sure.
Although I had a cap of 10L on my budget but seeing the VFM variant of ecosport titanium Variant in 2021 with loaded safety features, I am actually in a huge confusion now.
Coming onto requirements of car:
Running of car would be around 10000-12000 kms per year which includes 3-4 trips of about 1000 km and some 6-8 short trips of 400 kms along with most usage in small town in haryana with very limited traffic.
Something we are looking for most:
Safety, Driving Pleasure, Ride Comfort, Rear comfort on outstation trips( Family of 4 adults - all between 5'8 - 5'11), Easy Handling
We were also wanting to go with latest designs and so was more inclined towards Nexon, but have found no issues practically with ecosport as well. So, not sure how much preference or relevance should be given to this particular factor of latest design and how it might impact in future. We might keep the vehicle for 7-8 years just like other old ones. Will this factor impact resale value given that ecosport may definitely be revised in near future?
I did test drive Ecosport couple of time and found it lovely, but could not test drive Nexon petrol as dealership was not having it for demo, took Nexon diesel for a drive and although it was good but felt little vibrations at 100+, not sure if it was demo vehicle that was like this. I guess what I want to know is, How's the driving pleasure of Ecosport vs Nexon for someone who's coming from a 1.4l diesel in i20 sportz? What would be more fun to drive?
One thing that also comes to mind is I am saving almost 1 Lakh when taking Nexon XZ petrol but will that 1Lakh saved be spoiling the fun against Ecosport diesel or would it be equally fun to drive Nexon petrol as well? On the other hand, I believe I can save some fuel cost on diesel against that one lakh.
What I could see so far is that both these cars tick all the boxes for me. But, I am doubtful if I will be missing out on driving pleasure, fit & finish and great VFM deal (of titanium ecosport) by choosing Nexon over ecosport, whereas on the other hand I feel I might be compromising on latest generation design and rear as well as ride comfort by choosing ecosport over Nexon.
So, considering all these factors please let me know what should be the ideal choice. Please let me know your thoughts on this. And if there are any other aspects I should consider in choosing one of the two. Also, if there are any other options or any other variants that I can consider for my requirements.
P.S. : looking only for Manual options.
Getting car in next few weeks is also one minor factor.
Looking for your support to come out of this huge confusion that I've created for myself.
Thanks and Regards,
Lakshay Anand
