Hi Gagan/ Team,

I am looking for a car in the range of 12 lakhs. I am mostly looking for an Automatic car, as most of my travel will be within the city and occasionally long trips of 550+ Kms with family on an average 700 KM per Month. I would like to keep the car for min 10 years

I prefer cars with safety and stability. My driving style is steady and occasionally enthusiastic.

Below are the options that I have

1) Honda City 4th Gen VMT Manual - 11.75 On road (5th Gen City Automatic will be above my budget):- I would want to know the driving comfort and handling of city as I could not get a test drive for 4th Gen and about the Mileage and maintenance. What I heard was that the periodic maintenance will come every 6 months. How about the safty features in 4th Gen VMT?

2) Skoda Rapid Ambition Automatic 12.60 Lakhs on road (This is a 2020-billed vehicle):- I like the handling, Safety, suspension-driving comfort of Rapid however I am worried about the maintenance and Mileage :)

If you have better other choices, please mention.

Greetings !!

As you referred that majority of usage to be within city condition, and possibly you seek a car for convenience perspective
I suggest to ditch out Honda City V Manual - although an excellent value buy basis
> Space
> Performance
> Loaded Features in given price
> Styling aspect

but is essentially a Manual Transmission. If your focus is on Automatic - be assured Skoda Rapid Ambition Automatic is like gem of car with
> Impeccable handling
> Sturdy Build
> Performance past 1800 to 2000 rpm
> Steering, Suspension, Tyre Profile compliment each other with a much better experience on highway

For Peace of Mind Ownership
> Offered with standard warranty of 4 years with extended warranty of 5th and 6th Year, however cost steep at Rs 30000 approx - may skip as of now and consider at end of 4th year
> Available with Prepaid AMC Maintenance Package of 4 Years for Rs 35000 approx include all periodic service - Recommended to go ahead with it.

Skoda has increased localisation in recent years and spare parts are now relatively much competitively priced.
Pls refer Skoda Rapid Service Cost

With Best in class Paint, Fit and Finish and 6 Speed Torque converter there is nothing to worry about Skoda Rapid Ambition Automatic
In terms of fuel efficiency - this smaller 1 Litre turbo petrol engine can deliver in 11 to 12 Kmpl in city usage condition and may even perform better basis average speed, loading and tyre pressure. While on highway, expect fuel efficiency to be lot better if driven in controlled speed.

If you seek a Sedan Car in Automatic - Skoda Rapid Ambition Automatic or even Rider Plus Automatic can be a great choice (only thing is that rapid rider plus may have waiting) and 2021 model price Rider Plus AT and Ambition Auto 2020 may just have a difference of 1 Lakh.

Would be worth a consideration for Skoda Rapid Ambition Automatic
Hope should help !!

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I have enquired about Hyundai I20 Sports 1 ltrTurbo IMT. How is the handling of I20 in highways ?
will that be suitable for long drives during night and how is the response for IMT Clutch less transmissions.
the only thing I was worried about Rapid was on the mileage part.

Hi,

Hyundai Cars across whether
> Nios
> Aura
> I20

all 3 comes with relative light steering and although I20 new gen steering feedback feels better than outgoing Elite I20 one but somehow the problem is despite of turbo petrol engine - steering do not gain in as much as expected and thus wont rate this car in best of handling and high speed dynamics. Infact would rate it slight on an average note for highway perspective

Infact, to view can if you considering I20 then in hatchback consider jack of all trades Honda Jazz CVT Automatic. Its an excellent pick basis
> CVT well tuned for relaxed drive in city
> High speed handling feesl better than I20
> Although not as quick as I20 but with paddle shifter can take it for slight fun ride too by slotting gear in sports mode.

Hope should help !!

Hi Jinesh,

I have owned I20 Asta IMT car and it is giving better performance and millage. Coming to steering handling is easy as it becomes heavier after 80 kms speed. My suggestion would be please take test drive on a highway, Max speed i touched 120 kms. if you drove below 2000 rpm and 80 kms speed, you will be getting 20 kms per liter millage initially. After first service millage will increase

Thanks
Srikanth
