I would like to buy affordable sub-compact automatic car.
We are a family of 5 - 3 adults & 2 kids.
Parking & driveway corner space is limited (Gate width 9.2 ft which opens into 9.11 ft road). So entry exit space is tight. Currently drive Maruti Alto and A-Star.
Suitable choices I found are Hyundai Santro AMT Asta and Micra CVT XV.
However, since I don't want to waste money buying new car, am open to buy pre-owned compact segment cars with premium features like airbags, ABS/EBS, rear vent (living in Kolkata), electronic ORVM, driver seat height adj. steering tilt/telecopic (wife will drive as well).
What do you suggest?

P.S. Wish I could afford a VW Mini !!!

Greetings !!

As i understand you looking for a car
> With Low Turning radius
> Ease in Handling
> Automatic Car
> Reliable yet loaded with Features

So, here are top 3 recommended choices

1. Pre Owned Honda Brio Automatic : I can tell you that Brio Automatic with 1.2 Litre 90 PS Power with 110 NM Torque along with low 4.7 Meter turning radius can definite impress in. You will also get in safety features with all essential elements.

Some misses
> Steering however wont be telescopic but would be Tilt Adjustable.
> Rear AC Vents not there. But Car AC is powerful and been small cabin would cool in cabin in no time

Honda Car India offers one among top notch reliability and if you getting in 4 year Old Brio Automatic with around 30,000 Kms on Odo at around Rs 3.5 Lakh to 4 Lakh price - can definite be an attractive buy

2. Pre Owner Hyundai Grand i10 Sportz Automatic: Hyundai too offering light steering and yes car would also be available in with rear AC Vents. It was earlier available in 4 speed torque converter. Hyundai Cars are reliable too and spacious and has light steering
Thet are near perfect for city usage condition and also with low turning radius. Steering wont be telescopic one, but can adjust seat height with height adjustable driver seat

If can get 4 to 5 year Old Grand i10 Sportz Automatic with around 35,000 Kms on Odo at around Rs 4 Lakh price - can definite be an attractive buy

3. Pre Owned Nissan Micra CVT - Although this car too would make it to one among top pick, but biggest issue is with Nissan after sales service been very limited now. CVT is more smooth as against torque converter been used in Brio and Grand i10 Sportz. Low Turning radius is an edge, but Nissan after sales service is what a down point

However, in price front if you getting in 4 year Old Nissan Micra CVT Automatic with around 30,000 Kms on Odo at around Rs 3 Lakh price - may check but has to take service part in consideration before thinking of buying this car

Hope should help

Well. Thanks for the options.
1. With both Brio and Grand i10 being discontinued wouldnt it be an issue with parts/service for these models?
2. Being pre-BS6 what will be the long term limitations on pre-owned vehicles?
3. Opinion on compact models like Honda Jazz or Maruti Swift ?

Hello,

Pls find point wise reply

1. With both Brio and Grand i10 being discontinued wouldnt it be an issue with parts/service for these models?
A. Honda Brio Based cars
> Brio
> Amaze 1st Gen
> Mobilio

shared common spare, parts and were in Indian Market from
> 2011 to 2018 in form of Brio
> 2013 to 2018 in form of Amaze 1st Gen
> 2015 to 2017 in form of Mobilio

So, not to worry Honda is pro-active in offering spare parts to its car range and till 2028 - no issues in part availability as long as servicing at from Honda workshop

In terms of Grand i10 - 2nd generation is very much on sale even now too, only Automatic Transmission been discontinued and now replaced with AMT Gearbox of 3rd Generation Nios Model. No issues in part availability

2. Being pre-BS6 what will be the long term limitations on pre-owned vehicles?
A, All Bs4 Cars can well run on BS6 fuel, no issues

3. Opinion on compact models like Honda Jazz or Maruti Swift ?
A. Honda Jazz is an excellent choice but has higher turning radius
Swift AMT is an excellent choice but model was introduced in 4 years back but AMT cant be compared against response as whats in Torque converter gearbox as in GRand i10 and Honda Brio
But can be considered in if getting a well maintained used car.

In Used car - most important criteria is used car condition. If getting Swift AMT in well maintained condition can consider same too.

Hope should help !!
