Greetings !!

See, every state has differential slabs for registration and even has basis for registration. Implies
> RTO Slabs has differential tax structure
> RTO has different basis for calculation of road tax

Now in Chandigarh - RTO Slabs for cars under 20 Lakh is 6%
Secondly, tax is applied on depot price (which is price before GST)
While in Delhi for Honda city Petrol 5th gen is 10%, while on City Diesel 5th Gen is 12.5% and applied on ex-showroom price.

Now, coming to your query, for any one considering to buy car from other state 2 importanyt pointers
1. Indvidual has to furnish in address proof of other state/UT, means in your case you need to provide in address of Chandigarh as per RTO approved address proof documents -
a) Election Card with address of Chandigarh
b) LIC Policy with address of chandigarh (atleast to be 6 month old)
c) Passport or Aadhaar with address of chandigarh
d) Registered Rent aggrement registered with registrar of Union Territory, Chandigarh
e) House allotment letter issued by chandigarh administration
f) Marriage certificate issued by Registrat of Marriage, Chandigarh
g) ID Card issued to ex-servicemen by Zila Sainik Board, Chandigarh
h) Latest BSNL Telephone bill copy (Landline/ Post paid bill)

2. Section 47 of Motor vehicle act which states, that any individual bringing car of other state registration to home state for more than 12 months then re-registration would be what needed and road tax needs to be applied in

So, technically if you are delhi based resident and going to use car in Delhi then as per Law you should not considering taking in chandigarh registration.
