Sir

On 20 march before lockdown, I gave ₹1,70,000 as a partial payment towards my booked ford ecosport. Process was paused due to lockdown. Balance payment is through finance and that payment will be released to dealer after my sign.

But now I can't afford a new car due to COVID-19 crisis. I told the dealer same thing but they are telling that, I've to take the car and car insurance, invoice, gst payment has been done. Bank has also given them confirmation mail for payment.

Please help me to get my refund and come out of the situation as I'm in dire need of that money.

Thanks & Regards
Udit Garg

Dear Mr. Udit,

I faced almost similar problem with TATA Altroz. On 21st March I made a payment of total 521000.00 towards new TATA Altroz XZ petrol in TC Motors. As per the dealer my Car is on transit. After the Covid Crisis I and given a second thought and has stepped down from purchasing a new car. Accordingly I mailed to TATA Motors customer care with a copy to TC Motors and informed them that I want to cancel my booking and in the mail I attached all the Money receipts of my booking. I wanted to make this cancellation in black and white. Because when I called the sales person who was looking after me in TC Motors and informed his about my thought of cancellation he was advising me to wait still the lock down reopens. But that is not a wise decision. Immediately TATA Motors replied to my mail and the GM of TC Motors called me and assured me that full refund will be done as soon as the dealer opens after lock down.

What I feel Mr. Garg that you should bring the matter to Ford customer care. At dealers point they will always try to fool you. You have every right to cancel your booking. Maximum they can deduct 10,000.00 (to be in the higher side usually this is rare) from your booking amount. As regarding Insurance how can it be insured if you do not pay and Car insurance can be cancelled. A dealer can not allot and insure a vehicle without a owners concern.

I am sure you will get almost full refund of your booking amount.

Best of Luck.

Dear Mr. Somnath Pal,

I also have similar case like you. Booked Tata Tiago XZ model, paid booking amount of 21k on 07/03/2020, then remaining amount of 6.42L on 19/03/2020. I paid full amount since Tata dealer promised me the delivery on 25/03/2020(on gudi padwa).
But lockdown was declared on 20/03/2020 and his showroom was closed from 20/03/2020.
I also decided to cancel the booking thinking about the post corona situation, and informed him to cancel my booking and since I wanted to purchase Tata car only, I told him I will come back once situation becomes normal after corona virus. I was promised 100% refund if I cancel the booking before RTO is done.
I cancelled the booking on 15/04/2020 but he asked me to wait till lockdown is over. Finally I got my refund after 2 months i.e. in June but I see dealer has deducted 5k rupees on the name of cancellation fee. I am feeling cheated now with Tata dealer.
Could you please help me how did you received help from Tata Motors ?

I also want to take this opportunity to thank @mycarhelpline for providing this forum to discuss the issues. :)
