As per latest news reports and general consumers sentiment, a lot of people are cancelling their car bookings. Besides, new bookings haven’t been that aggressive as well.
Given the bleak economic outlook, why aren’t we seeing more discounts and offers from the OEMs to encourage people to part with their cash/ take debt? Or is it that they are OK with 50% sales and operating their plants at lower capacity and not giving any extra offers over those which existed pre lockdown ? Its also a fact that people are selling their ‘extra’ cars and these cars will also meet the demand of people trying to avoid public transport after lockdown is lifted.

A detailed article on this issue, with inputs from your contacts in OEMs , Dealers would be much appreciated.

I can share with you that discount offers wont change immediately

Dealers, Manufacturers - all are in business and no business would like to spoil in margins. Having said same - discounts yes will increase and will increase in a gradual way basis
> bookings in hand,
> inquiries in hand with hot prospects,
> sales,
> dealer inventory

Situation yes is grim and fact remains that Bank continue charging interest to dealers on unsold stock with first priority will be to sell existing stock and if remained unsold in May 2020 - expect offers to definite take an upside in June and July 2020

Basis situation and stability by Mid 2020 - a further call will be taken by Manufactuirer from then it to
> Either cut production
> Be aggressive with discounts

Hope should help !!
