I have bought the new Tata Harrier 2020 XZA+ and at the time of delivery i noticed an error message on speedometer, “ Drive control system fault with engine check” upon driving it acceleration was extremely low. I never expected this to happen and upon inspection the dealer came to conclusion that they accidentally filled it with BS4 fuels and as the new Harrier is BS6 it will show these faults and once you fill Bs6 fuel it will come to normal. I mean was that a genuine reply for a 25+ lakhs car ?? Below is the picture of error message. Please tell me what i can do to get this resolved.

The bs4 reason is totally wrong . You should write to the higher ups in tata for a clarification on the issue . As it is a brand new car with only 29kms on the odo. Has the CEL gone now after complaining or is it still there ?

Hello,

Thats shocking for a new Automatic Car driven just 29 Kms on odometer to get Drive Control System Fault
To me it looks like a problem with Transmission Control Module or Fuse gone bad

Also - why in the world dealer filled in BS4 Diesel in this BS6 Harrier.
Tata Motors intentionally delayed launch as BS6 Diesel not available throughout. As referred in Harrier BS6 Owner Manual - maximum sulphur content should not exceed .001% and BS4 fuel has sulphur levels of .005%.
Using BS4 fuel in BS6 Harrier can cause damage to Engine components of car

However, to disclaim the error as referred in instrument cluster definitely not looks like due to BS4 but seems more like Transmission Control Module. Do update in findings from Tata Motors as spending 20 Lakh+ and such issue is certainly a big downer.

This same things also comes to my newly purchased Harrier XZ+ manual transmission.. I have purchased my car on 29th and on showroom the car failed to started. They told me that it’s battery is low may be due to some light might remained on.. I aggred and they gave it to me by jump starting it with another car.. After that I drove 100 kms total reading on odo was 125 and it shown DRIVE MODE MALFUNCTION and then after turning the car off It didn’t started.. Since then Iam in theri workshop more then my house.. My starter was found burnt they chnged the starter still battery not charging. The alternator is giving out put of only 12.6 voltage and they are saying it is normal output but I read everywhere that 13.4 is required to charge a battery.. And there is a battery sensor in car after removing it’s fuse alternator gives 13.4 volts and above.. I am completely stressed after spending 21 lacks Iam in workshop from the same day of delivery.. What to do

Hi Narayanan CS,

Very shocking to hear that... How is it running now? Have you asked for the replacement of the vehicle?
