Sir,
I have Maruti Wagon R LXI 1.0L 2011 model. For the past three years I observe MASS replaces 0W20 engine oil. But in my manual, it is 5W30 engine oil. Also I observed that while raising speed above 80Kmph, unpleasant noise experienced which makes me to maintain the speed at 80Kmph on highways. But before, even if I cruise above 100Kmph no rough noise. 0W20 is good below 60Kmph. Last service I informed to the MASS, but they told Maruti issued circular to follow 0W20 for all K series engines. Please confirm whether I have to stick with manual that is 5W30 engine oil or Maruti latest recommended engine oil 0W20.

Hello,

The difference is
> 0W20 - is a thin oil and perform best even in coldest condition
> 5W30 - is a slight thicker oil and yet ideal one for all cars manufactured back

Although there is no issue in using 0W20 Oil and even that is recommended for conditions having chill winters
But for places like Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and areas of South India where temperature generally dont fall below 12 degree - i think 5W/30 as what mentioned on owner manual can well be considered as a choice

If workshop stating same that a circular issued by Maruti Suzuki - pl ask them a copy for same where Maruti Suzuki changed recommendation
To the best of our info - no such circular is there. Like in new gen cars Maruti Suzuki recommending 0W-16 Oil, and there is no circular to ask owners or to workshop to replace 0W-20 Oil to 0W-16 Oil

Although no issues in 0W-20 but Best best for the car is 5W-30 as what mentioned in owner manual.

Hope should help !!

Thank you very much for your response Sir. My doubt cleared. From now on I will stick with 5W30 Grade Engine oil for my Wagon R K10 (2011 Model).

Sir, I have changed the engine oil from 0W30 EC STAR to 5W30 MGO- IDEMITSU and covered almost 400Kms. Of which 240Kms was Highway run. Now fast acceleration is not there. But engine feels very smooth and almost silent. Even if I raise the speed to 100Kmph, no engine noise very very less. Even at low speed 1 to 3rd gear, vibration has considerably reduced.
