Should i pay full amount to the dealer of a new car, before the registration is done on my name? i am really confused, please help me , how to do the payment of my new car.

Certainly yes, complete payment needs to be made to dealer before he proceeds for registration
However, as best practice its important to
> Get Car PDI (Pre delivery Inspection check) Done before delivery / before registration
> For doing PDI, one may pay equivalent to ex-showroom but hold amount for insurance and registration purpose to safeguard interest
> Only after doing PDI - one should release amount for registration to dealer and take delivery within next 2 to 3 days at best

Refer here, detailed Car PDI Checklist

The car dealer wherein we booked is asking for the full payment by 30th September, but he says the delivery will be done 4to 5 days after that. He says the quoted price is valid only till sep 30 and he will increase the price next month. Should we pay in full or hold some amount?

@ Dr Rathna

Which Car Model ?
As price hike communication is only in select brands to be applicable from October 2020

Also, you can make complete price payment except registration amount and ask dealer for PDI and then release the registration amount
Do note that if registration amount released, and dealer register the vehicle - you wont be having any say even if you reject car during PDI been vehicle would be marked registered in your name

There is absolute no such official news from Hyundai about price hike
Infact they hiked prices by Rs 5000 of Venue in September 2020 - but retained prices of other models on as it is basis

Its like a bluff from dealer side and makes further caution
Recommended to go proper PDi at time of registration and decode VIN to find manufacturing month

Dear Sir,

I'm facing an issue with increased car prices. I had booked CRETA EX Petrol in mid July. Car arrived somewhere around 28th September (Which I was not aware of). I was going for the payment on 3rd October for which I talked to dealership in the morning, but in the afternoon they told me car prices have been hiked and you'll need to pay higher. I'm not getting what should I do. This is completely shocking as the prices are about 1 lakhs higher for the same variant. Suggest me, I've written to HMIL and talked to them as well, no response.

My hyundai dealer is telling me to make full payment after he gives me the car's VIN details. Then only he can bring the car from the stockyard to his showroom. What should i do?? Please tell me whether I should pay the full amount after checking the car details through VIN and not doing any PDI with my own eyes or not??

Hi Admin,
I have booked Altroz XT model recently and have given booking amount of 11k.

No can you please guide, how should payment be made between PDI and Delivery.

1. Should I pay in full after PDI is done or hold some amount for safety.
2. How can one make sure delivery vehicle and PDI vehicle is same. We can check VIN, but how can we claim on paper if its different. Does dealer provide in written after PDI (still pending registration), that car with XXXX VIN number is shown for PDI and will be delivered after this many days to me.
Hi Sir,
Could you please confirm how munch would cost the floor mat done entire for Dzire vehicle. Is that worth doing at dealer or outslide the cost looks cheaper. Please do advise.

I have booked Hyundai aura amt and delivery is to be done after 4 days but dealer is asking for full down payment today or tomorrow than only car loan will be given. Please guide me with correct process.

In 2024, the process is like this:
Pay booking amount (around 10k) → Dealer gets VIN, Chassis and engine number → You book insurance → PDI → Pay full amount - accessories → Dealer gets vehicle registered -> Delivery
