I am driving an old model Toyota innova 2012 , Car had just done 150000 Km On ODO. Suddenly I feels car engine sound getting heavier, It becomes more when car de accelerate, Like running in 3rd gear on 1000 RPM. In this case I feel more vibrations in the cabin.

I checked it through local mechanic he told everything is normal, However I am not satisfied his answer.

Can you please suggest something?

Hello,

Is there any warning light too in Instrument cluster like check engine light illuminated ?
When was the engine oil last replaced ? was it of recommended viscosity and done from authorized workshop ?

Although it requires a professional inspection, but If no malfunction light on suggest to get
> exhaust unit checked for any leak or
> tail pipe if broken as it increases noise levels.

You can try sound deadening material like dynamat, kilmat or B-Quiet Extreme. I think it ships from the US and you can try and get it on Amazon. Alternatively, you can have someone you know ship it to you.

Even I own a 2012 model innova, well maintained, run only 52,000 kms.
The engine is too noisy after 100 km speed. it feels like sitting in a matador. It is annoying.
Can anyone suggest the solution ?.

Yes, this is a known issue. Mine is a 2013 model and initially when the car was new, I even took it to the service centre to get the noise checked. The head mechanic and I took it for a test drive for about 20 kms on an open road. My problem started when the speedo hit 80 or so. He said that it was normal noise that originated from the Turbo. It has since subsided a lot and I get this now only when I hit 120 or so. There are a couple of things that you can do. First - change the engine oil to full synthetic. This somewhat gives the engine a better feel of smoothness. The other thing you can do is to line the bonnet and the inside of the car with sound deadening material. This is an expensive proposition as the sound proofing material requires to be stuck to the bare metal after prep. This means that you have to take out the seats and the carpets. Hope this response helps you.

Thanks a lot for your response. But still I feel the solution from the Toyota team needs to be tried. They are still not commenting about this serious issue. This noise is ridiculous. It gives an experience of travelling in a village bus.
