I am looking for sedan car in around 7 lakh budget, have 2 lakh as down payment and will be taking 5 lakh as loan. Confused in Honda amaze smt and Maruti dzire vxi. This is my solo first car and is from my own funds with emi payment of rs 10,500 also to be done by me
Confused as which car can be best buy for another 7 to 8 years for reliability, space, mileage, cost factor with features as best value.

I see this is your first car and you taking loan as well. So, if you can wait for few more months and plan to buy the car in year end (Year end discount) or Jan'20-Mar'20 (BS-4 discounts), you may get good discounts on these cars and put less pressure on your pockets.

Rest, admin can suggest you which is the better car among the two.

Greetings !!

Firstly, you made a good choice in terms of reliability as both Amaze and Dzire scores high on reliability
Comes with warranty coverage of 5 years (including Extended warranty) - If serviced on time, both cars can offer niggle free ownership
In terms of safety expect no difference, both models comes with ABS, EBD, Dual Airbags and has yes 14 inch wheels on lower variant - the Build also seems quiet similar

Now some specifics
> Maruti Dzire feels marginally more peppier in drive as against Amaze
> Some how Amaze side profile seems slight more bland in Amaze, Dzire leads
> Interior Aesthetics with Wooden Finish, Flat Bottom Steering, Instrument Cluster
> Rear Seat Headroom is marginally better with Adjustable Head restraints on rear along with Rear AC Vents (although under-thigh support and legroom support is almost similar)
> Dzire Suspension is slight more firm as against Amaze suspension on softer side
> Dzire Mileage is key point and is also an edge

Honda Amaze
> Amaze USP is in Automatic and diesel Engine where it excels but as you referred budget looks like a Manual Transmission is what considering.
> Relative Bigger Boot Space and even more storage option in cabin
> Marginally lower turning radius in Amaze as against Dzire

But overall given a choice - Dzire remains to be a top pick in Manual Transmission in Petrol
Hope should help !!

My cousin who rides a 12 yr old Santro is looking to buy his next car. The Santro was used mostly for him and his wife but now they have 2 kids aged 7 & 3 and his aged parents (my uncle and aunt) live with him and travel with them as well. The car will have a monthly city running of 600-750 kms and they plan to make 2-3 outstation trips a year to their hometowns which would be 500-600 kms round trips. (Total 10000 kms a year)

My cousin is undecided on whether he should go for a premium hatchback, compact SUV or sedan. His budget is max of 14 lacs and below are his Top 5 criteria

a) automatic petrol cars only
b) rear seat comfort is important (since it will be 2 aged people + 2 kids on some of these trips)
c) cars which accommodate tall people (he is 6'2", my uncle is 6'3";)
d) low to average total cost of maintenance (since he will probably use this car for another 5-7 yrs atleast)
e) features - not too bare-bones, not too hi-fi

He is looking to buy by June 2019.

Can you pls advise?
