I am planning to buy a car of budget onroad less than 13 lakhs. I am staying in a hilly area and I have come down to subcompact suv class. I am confused between ford ecosport titanium plus and Tata nexon xz. My only priority is safety and nothing else. I am not interested in mahindra xuv 300 as it is a new car and a very low boot space. Plz help me to choose between these two cars considering safety as the only priority. Thanking you

Greetings !!

If priority is safety then here are some facts about these SUV
> Tata Nexon proved its mettle by getting 5 star safety rating in Global NCAP where the car cleared 64 Kmph Crash test norms in both Frontal and side Impact

> Indian Made Ford Ecosport Safety Crash test is still not done, its the International Version of Ecosport which passed Crash test and the latest rating available is 4 Star as done by NHTSA (US Arm - National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). In it the SUV in Front Wheel drive scored 4 star rating where in frontal impact scored 4 star, side impact scored 5 star and in roll over scored 3 star

Now some things
Safety is defined by 2 parameters
> Active Safety - Essential safety features to maneuver the car so as to prevent road accident
> Passive Safety - Essential safety post car been collided in an accident

In Active Safety - Ecosport edges as it comes with - ESP, Hill Hold Drive Assist, Traction control, of which ESP plays a very important role
« ESP : One of the latest safety features of recent times, ESP basically is a sensor which applies sudden brakes to car in event of loss of control on steering wheel where car moving in other direction. The sensor applies brakes by seeing the steering wheel control and direction movement of the car. The biggest advantage is that it helps in minimizing loss of control on the car

In Passive Safety - Ecosport although comes with Side and Curtain Airbags, But its Nexon which proved its mettle with 5 Star safety with even the sturdiest build in Front and Side Impact with a score rating of 16.06 out of maximum score of 17. Ecosport in NHTSA scored 4 star in front impact / 5 star in side / 3 star in roll over

Net all
> Tata Nexon proved its mettle with 5 star rating and is the same Nexon been sold in India and tested in Global NCAP
> Although Ecosport comes with advanced safety of ESP, Hill Hold Assist which makes it essential in active safety but been Indian Made Ecosport crash test rating not done so far, and possibility of slight build difference / safety difference do exists in between Indian Ecosport and US / European Version of Ecosport along with low 3 star rating in roll over protection.

Tata Nexon overall will be a better bet in given scenario.
