Hello Gagan,

I have been following this website from end 2011 (I believe),. I trust your views more than others. Thanks for helping us all.

My priorities to buy a car were: Safety and technology

I knew that ABS, EBD etc etc are good in keeping my family safe. But I would like to know from a long time, a vehicle which have high strength in taking the impact considering the skeleton.

My budget is less than 12 lakhs. (Cannot buy Hummer though which satisfies me ;-)). I can wait for new launches as well.

Thank you!

Keep Going ....... Good Luck!

Care: learn defensive driving. don't mix drink and drive. don't drive when feel very weak, sleepy etc. don't allow strangers to mishandle your car.
Cars: Go for big size body cars with dual airbags, like mahindra xyko, quanto, ms ertiga, Renault duster, Ford ecosport err tc. mini SUVs o.k. avoid high cspacity SUVs.

Hello Prasad,

Glad to hear that !!
Will try to answer your query to the best of satisfaction

From Strength perspective - SUVs are considered stronger over Sedan with more strong body built, chassis and are considered to absorb slight bigger impact than a regular sedan

Tata Safari Storme - is the best buy according to view, but it may cost you around Rs. 15 Lakh in Bangalore for top end Vx Variant. Strong X2 Chassis platform, massive body built, appeal, Crumple Zone, Side impact door beam - is just the kind you may feel safe in

To my understanding - its better than any other competition car - XUV 500 - leave aside Duster, Terrano - which stand no match to Safari Storme in the body built

Else - if its going out of budget
Then suggest to choose in between either of 2 to fall well within your budget:-

> Hyundai Fluidic Verna Sx Option - A Sedan with the highest features - ABS, EBD , 6 Airbags including Curtain Airbags to protect safety of passengers not only from front but also from side. Also has Crumple zone, Side impact door beam

> Ford Ecosport Automatic - 6 Airbags, ABS with EBD, Emergency Brake Assist System, Stability Control, Traction Control, Fog Lights, Parking Sensor, Hill Launch Assist, Crumple zone, Side impact door beam.

Ecosport AT has highest safety features for any car under 15 lakh segment

Advantage of Curtain Airbags is much evident from this video

Hope it helps !!

Thanks Gagan and also Venkat for valuable advice ;-),

Gagan, Is it better to buy a car with the maximum safety specs having minimum strength body build or strong body build.

My friend advised me to go for JAZZ :-( which might have 6 airbags optional with all safety specs and well designed body and also HONDA engine...as most drive is in City for few years;

What say?

Both go in conjunction.
Its always better to have - maximum of both.
A car with descent body strength coupled with safety features is relatively safe to drive in on highway or high speed.

Old Jazz was having dual airbags, new Jazz expected to come in latter half of year - though it may have 6 airbags. From strength point generally the point goes in favor of SUVs :-
SUV > Executive Cars > Compact SUV / Sedan > Hatch

Hope it helps !!
