Hi, I have Grand i10 Asta and It came with the Appollo Amazer 3G Maxx - 165/65 R14 79H. Now I'm planning to change the tyres, go for MRF and I'm planning to retain the actual size - 165/65 R14 79H. Can you please suggest me good MRF tyre? Out of curiosity, what does 79H, 79T, 79TT mean? Does it really matter if I go with 79T instead of 79H?

Hello,

Tyre as 79H, 79T, 79TT . here essentially H and T are speed rating
Essentially
> 79H means - maximum speed till which tyre will be able to take the heat, drive is till 210 Kmph Speed
> 79T means - maximum speed till which tyre will be able to take the heat, drive is till 189 Kmph Speed
> 79V means - maximum speed till which tyre will be able to take the heat, drive is till 240 Kmph Speed

Although one never attain the kind of speed, but recommended to go with 79H Tyre means tyre rubber are better designed and of better quality. Going with 79T instead of 79H means slight compromise on quality.

Hope should help !!

Hope you purchased the tyres already, if not I suggest you buy michelin's 165/65 r14 79T, like already mentioned above T, H etc., stands for max speed a tyre can handle on road, main difference between T & H is T denotes a max speed of 190km/hr on other hand H denotes a max speed of 210km/hr speed, which i doubt makes hardly any difference in our case since grand i10 wont be usually doing that great speeds, atleast in my case! Even I own a grand i10 and about to change the tyres on my car, after a lot of research have figured michelins make some best rubbers and have best road grip even in wet conditions, many reviews online have said it considerably reduces road noise inside cabin too making drives quieter, smoother, I have ordered (michelin energy XM2 165/65 r14 79T) it on Amazon.in for a good price and awaiting deivery :)

I agree that i10 is not going to touch speed of an 200, but still I suggest to ho for H only as it was originally equipped.
Apart from speed there are several other factors like Heat, Pressure during Break, friction etc which helps to take control in emergency. Hope it will help you to decide.
