Hello,

Yes - Engine Oil needs to be replaced in at either
> 10000 Kms
or
> 12 Month

which ever earlier
Pl note that Engine Oil is made up of Viscosity Molecules. The Molecular arrangement in systematic way when done artifically makes up for Synthetic Oil, while loose molecules makes up for MIneral Oil

When Oil is poured in Engine - with passage of usage and time shelf as suggested - the Molecules tends to breakup over period of time. R&D as suggested by Engine Oil makers / OEM reports suggests to replace the Oil - post defined time period - for long term Engine protection and performance output

Do note that with broken Viscosity molecules - oil would tend to be thinner due to loss of its properties. This will increase in friction causing quicker wear & tear of engine with if used for long term can lead to premature mechanical issue with the vehicle.

Thus its required as must to change Oil either every year or basis Kms whichever hit first
Hope should help !!
