Can a sequential CNG kit be installed in a Fiat Linea T-Jet?
If yes, will it have any negative effect on the T-Jet?
I'm planning to buy to second hand Linea and will have a CNG installed in it so that its eases my pocket.

Hi Ashley Ji,
I have bought this Tjet un impulse and now bearing the consequences!:D :p
Thank you for valuable inputs. I will visit the Ghatkopar place in coming week.
Hi Datta,

I remember starting this thread before buying a car. As for me I ended up buying an i20 rather than a Linea 4.5 years back. And got CNG installed within the first 2 months itself. The only mistake I made during installing CNG was I went to a govt authorised CNG Installer which let me tell you is a big Joke. Because they may be authorised but they aren't skilled. And also I would reccommend to not hold back and try saving a buck here and there. Get the best of the best installer and the best kit available in the market and your CNG journey will be hassle free.

I suggest that you get your CNG kit installed from Lovato authorised CNG Installer in Ghatkopar. Also get a OBD 2 kit installed as you own a Tjet. This kit is a little pricier than normal ones but yet again I say do not hold back right now and pay later.

Happy Miles buddy.

Dear Chetan
Many Thanks for your reply with all the information. Wishing your mom a speedy recovery. Please share me the contact details of M/s Logician, Rabale and also Sandip Mahatekar. Though I am from Pune, I would like to get it done from a person who has already done for a Tjet engine. What is the fuel efficiency you get for a kg of CNG.
Once again thanks for your time.
Best Regards

Was bit busy in mom's health issue. Sorry for the late response.

Any way normally any CNG kit costs around 40 to 45 K. My Landi Renzo kit costed 50K plus 2K for RTO. I insisted LR kit as they have various kinds of partnerships with Fiat for alternative fuels worldwide. So shortlisted authorised distributor of LR M/s 'Logician' situated in place called Rabale in Mumbai. Sandip Mahatekar, an automobile engineer arranged 28 pages report from LR (Italy) directly. This was their first Tjet. And after that everything went very smoothly.

Now since last 3 year enjoying power and economy both together. Original Tjet has 114 horses but on CNG you have negligible loss of 4, thanks to the independent Sequential Sys that doesn't interfere with your original car mechanism. You can avoid even that small loss by adding device called advancer (around 4k) which I have not added. Now drive is even smoother than petrol. Fuel gauge always remains lower than petrol. I don't see any effect on Turbo, even Sandip assured me about the turbo effect. Turbo is nothing but a turbine supplying mechanically added fresh air to engine and powered by pressurized exost gas. I don't see any reason for any adverse effect on Turbo due to nature of fuel (my opinion).

Thanks

Dear Chetan,
How much did t cost for the CNG kit. Was there a drastic reduction of power and torque. How does the car behave in the turbo mode with CNG. I also own a Linea Tjet Plus and was thinking of converting it to CNG.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best Regards

Hi Ashley this is chetan nimonkar from prabhadevi mumbai.I want to sale my Linea Tjet. I have converted my 2010 Linea Tjet since last 3 years. I am enjoying power with economy. My conversion is extremely successful as I have installed the LandiRenzo kit (L.R. is a worldwide partner of Fiat for alternative fuel sys). Mine is the first Linea Tjet CNG in india.

Hello,

Wont recommend CNG in a Turbo Charger Engine
Due to an additional Turbo-charger in the car, the toque and rpm matrix behaves much different as against naturally aspirated engines

It needs an expert precision with lot of tuning for near close perfection, in case of any issue - will deteriorate in performance of car
Been Turbo-charger works on concept of enhancing in Engine Output by forcing extra air and thus higher torque and CNG works as low energy density and thus reduces in engine Performance - both technology do not go hand in hand in compatibility factor

Hence - the fitment of CNG is not recommended in Turbo charged Petrol Engine
Hope should help !!
