I will be buying an Alto K10 in January 2017. The dealer told me the new car will come by Jan. 20, but if I want before that I can pick up a Dec. 2016 make. It occurred to me that may not be a bad idea, as I am not worried about resale value. However, is it possible that I can ask the dealer for a massive discount if he wants to give me a Dec. 2016 make car in Jan. 2017? Or will he simply decline.

Should I simply buy the Jan. 2017 make after January 20th without discount?

What is the catch in buying a car with Dec. 2016 manufacturing date?

Maruti Suzuki would be commencing on production from 2nd January 2017
With the Plant in Gurgaon and Manesar - the dispatches will begin the on 2nd late evening and 3rd and likely to reach dealerships in Delhi and NCR Zone in around 4th and 5th January 2017 for popular variants and color

So - by say 6th or 7th - the billing will start for Maruti Cars of 2017 make
Going by previous year experience and stock availability - You do not need to wait for as long as 3rd week of January.

Lastly - in terms of clearance of Old Stock in January - its a general phenomenon and will not change in significantly the discounts in January. Infact with the likely expected higher up prices - if the discounts are increased - the overall impact will be nullified

Discounts of previous year make cars as leftover stock gets better only from Mid Feb onwards and remains on peak in March and April. So - suggest to take call accordingly.

Hi thanks for the pinpoint info. The Maruti guy tried to pull a fast one saying the new stock will come only after January 20. So I decided to get a December make with 25k discount along with exchange bonus of my old 800.
