Hello,

I am planning to buy a compact petrol sedan car for long time. My monthly travel will be approximately 650 kms per month (mostly 90% in highway and 10% in city) and need a good comfort leg room space with less maintenance and service/spare parts charges.

I checked all the compact sedan petrol cars - Dzire, Xcent, Amaze, Aspire (1.2 L) and Ameo.

Following are my observations: Ameo is 3 cylinder and leg room space in rear seat is less. Xcent has less leg room space in rear seats and not suitable for 3 adults in back. Dzire has mild lag while driving and space is comparatively better compared to Xcent but difficult for 3 adults. Aspire and Amaze has good space in rear seat and can accommodate 3 adults. The Aspire gears are little tight but Amaze is very smooth. Amaze has bi-annual service whereas Aspire has annual service. The recent reduction in price of Aspire Titanium seems attractive and value for money (91000 price cut). The on-road price of Aspire Titanium in Bangalore is 7,44,820 but the equivalent Amaze SX is around 8,40,000 (1 lakh more than Aspire).

There are some concerns on Aspire maintenance/service and resale value.

Note: I had Etios GD (Diesel) in the past and sold it due to personal reasons. After driving Etios GD for more than 4 years, I am not satisfied when I drive any of the above mentioned compact sedan cars. But, due to parking problems in apartment, I am looking for compact sedan cars which is equivalent to Etios in terms of driving comfort and maintenance and peace of mind.

My budget is around 8 lakhs. Please advise whether Ford Aspire Titanium 1.2L Petrol is a good value for money in terms of mileage, spare parts and service when compared to Amaze. In case, if you have any other suggestions/model, please let me know.

Your expert advice is highly appreciated.

If you are looking for compact sedan then go for dzire. It has gained good reputation over the years and also has good resale value. Honda and vw cars is a costly affair

@ Arun

Ford Figo Aspire can be a fairly good choice if
> Driving is mostly within city conditions - its a car which is meant for relaxed drive, rather than car like Amaze - which has more an enthu feel

> There is absolute no concern on scheduled servicing. Ford has really done well in bringing spare part prices down and even bringing down cost of maintenance. Spare Parts are now available for sale from some stores set up by Ford
Refer details -
> Ford Maintenance
> Ford Spare Parts

> In Cabin Seating Space is good enough and may suit in most of families

> After recent price cut - Ford Figo Aspire Titanium has turned to be real value for money. With 1 Lakh rs saved - you can actually end up utilizing this money for 5 years Insurance + 5 year Maintenance of the car for Peace of mind ownership

> Fully Loaded Features list for practicality and convenience

In short - Ford Figo Aspire has turned out to be value buy car - based on practicality of - Features, Space, City Drive, Maintenance and Price Point at which its available

However - of all the cars mentioned above - for Honda Amaze Sx
> Honda Amaze - leads as the segment best in class leading cabin space for 4 adults
> Boot Space is practically big enough as against Aspire and Dzire
> Honda though has bi-annual service interval - but its longer replacement of fluids and filter can bring costs under control
> Most Importantly - the Drive and Handling in its Power Terrain along with low turning radius of 4.5 meter - lowest in segment - makes it one among the finest cars we have for city drive and even for mid range and highway dynamics too
> With the recent facelift - Interiors feels well improved and to our view feels better in plastic, appeal as against Aspire - though it may be to one individual taste

Recommendation
So - it depends whether you feel to own a car
> Which is value buy - Figo Aspire
> Which is loaded with more fun to drive, space and feel good factor - Honda Amaze

Hope should help !!

Hi Sachin,

Due to the mixed reviews, I didn't pursued for Aspire. Instead, I bought Maruti Ciaz VXI+ (Petrol).

Hope this helps.

Arun
