Hello,

Are you going to get the car re-registered in Chennai (means changing registration mark from Gujarat to TN)
If No - There is no need to transfer car loan as it will keep on debiting from your bank a/c... If at all you are changing you a/c too, in that case you can swap your ECS/PDC

You may later update your Chennai number and address with bank for correspondence purpose

If you planning to get car re-registered in Chennai
Well, you may visit customer care of Bank and apply for 'State Transfer NOC', Bank may well also be asking (going to be) local address of Chennai along with reason or a copy of Joining Letter/Transfer letter if salaried.

The request will go with credit department of bank, who will also do a verification check and in most probable scenario will approve for State Transfer NOC
Then you can proceed ahead for re-registration for local NOC from your existing state

Hi

I have been transferred to Gurgaon from Hyderabad. I bought a car last year, which is hypothecated to SBI hyderabad. I will also be staying in Gurgaon for more than a year, request to suugest the way forward to transfer the loan from SBI hyderabad to SBI Gurgaon.

Once the transfer can happen then the SBI Hyderabad will give me NOC which is required by the RTO to process the request for NOC/ paper work for registration of car in Gurgaon.

Request to please suggest the process and contact number in Gurgaon if possible.

Thanks

Vivek

Mr. Bagchi -

Its the state transfer NOC, Did they say 'no' to it !
Give me 1 - 2 days. let me try for info in SBI. Will update you

to what we are aware of - in Mumbai, driving an other city car on a longer term can be problematic !!
Unlike NCR - where 3 states (rather 2 states & 1 UT) - UP (Noida, Ghaziabad), Delhi, Haryana (Gurgaon, Faridabad) are in close viscinity, the clause is much difficult to implement.

Mumbai, Thane, Vashi - all falls within same state Maharashtra - hence once you move out there, the traffic police may bother you up for driving an other city car. You may well be required to pay applicable road tax & octroi & eventually has to get it re-registered in Mumbai, if planning to stay beyond 12 months !!

Hi All,

I tried to get NOC from SBI in July 2013 and they told me that they can't give NOC for interstate transfer. Only option is to clear the loan asap, then remove bank hypothetication, approach RTO for NOC..

Option B : As suggested to me in this site. It worked. As per Motor act 47 -- u can drive car for 12 months, after that you need to pay the road tax. There is a catch here which was suggested to me by RTO, U can pay road tax without having NOC by showing your vehicle invoice & RC, but problem with this is, you wont be able to claim back the Road Tax from parent state and incase of any insurance claim (hope it should not happen) then claim will happen from the Parent state which is a Herculean task. However, you can drive the vehicle with peace of mind in new state.

Hi,

I bought a car loan in mumbai. It was disbursed to dealer on 30th July. 2014.

On 5th Aug. 2014 I got a better career offer from gurgaon. So i asked dealer that I want car to be registered in Rajasthan (my home state). Dealer is ok with this and has arranged all the docs and provided me with one month CRTM ( termporary registration).

Now Bank (HDFC in this case) is saying that I can not register in rajasthan as I have loan from Mumbai. Is it valid? I also asked them to transfer my account to some branch in Rajasthan. but they are not agree. What is the way out for me?
Because Mumbai reg. car will cause me lots of problems in rajasthan. I am ready to provide all the documents to bank.
Can bank stop me from registering in Rajasthan?

As you quoted "Dealer is ok with this and has arranged all the docs and provided me with one month CRTM ( termporary registration).":
If you have all requisite papers from dealer for self registration including temporary - you can very well move to Rajasthan and can get car registered there. For what you need Bank permission for !!!

However - if some papers are stuck the logically Bank is correct in its approach
> Banks do not allow self registration - as there could be a risk of HP (Hypothecation) missing from Smart Card, if customer does it by himself - as HP indicates collateral asset - Banks will be left with a funding which will be unsecured in event of HP Missing.
Dealers on other hand have an agreement with Banks - and its there onus and responsibility to provide Copy of RC with Hypothecation - post disbursement (within 90 days) - and banks can well hold future disbursement or penalize dealer in event of non submission of RC.

> Second you mentioned - that car is purchased from Mumbai - whereas you got a job in Gurgaon - but looking to register in for home state (i.e Rajasthan) - it involves 3 cities / states - One where loan is disbursed, one where car will be registered and one where end usage will be there - it involves high risk and contact-ability issues considering Bank Point of view, with the fact that vehicle is not even registered as of now - Bank will never allow such case.

If you have some document pending - and keen to get car registered in Rajasthan without foreclosing the loan - you may speak to bank for providing collateral based Fixed deposit for a short period with lien marked and enter an agreement that lien will be removed on submission of RC with HP to HDFC Bank - try to meet them for a solution.

Thanks for reply.

Thing is this car will be used by my brother in rajasthan and i will buy new car on company lease in gurgaon.

And Dealer has kept my registration amount to him saying that he will pay me that only after I submit RC to him. That way bank is secure and dealer can convience him, i think. Will speak to dealer on this.

Next is, Can RTO stop me from registering in rajasthan stating Hp from bank outside Rajasthan and ask for some doc from bank like NOC eg.? this is my main prob. Otherwise I have all the docs in the address on my hometoem only.

I have met with bank personnel in person but he does not seem to be ready though he has bought some time and forcing me to regiter in mumbai only. And that is the last thing i want to do.

To the best of our info - it really does not matter to RTO - which location does the financing bank belongs to - what they need to know - is HP there and need completed Form 34 with Invoice & Insurance with Due HP Details ? We have unheard of registration been denied due to address of financing bank pertaining to other location,

Still for a 100% check - pls ask your brother to get in touch with local rto office in Rajasthan for a confirmation.

Hello,

I will be moving from Pune to Chennai. My bank has given me NOC and has written that my registration number should not be changed. I am ready to pay my road tax in Chennai but will not be able to register in Chennai.
Now 2 questions: 1) How long I can drive in Chennai without registering my vehicle & just by paying road tax. 2) Can I apply for refund in Pune RTO.

@ Lokesh Pancholi

Q 1 : You can drive vehicle in Chennai just by paying road tax, but suggest carry the NOC copy to be on safer side ( I guess your car is hypothecated to the bank).

Q2 : Once the car registration number is changed to TN, you can claim for the refund from Pune. (Please see my earlier post)

I suggest not to approach any middle men for doing this. I looks complicated but it is very simple more over cost effective :-) . All you have to do is

Step 1 : Carry the original documents to the Chennai RTO office ( RC, Car Invoice, Insurance copy, Pollution certificate, NOC issued by the bank). The Road tax amount will be approx ~7% to ~8% of invoice value. I suggest to go Sholinganallur or Thiruvanmiyur RTO office in Chennai.

Step 2 : RTO Inspector will do the vehicle inspection and he will give the report immediately. Take the report and pay the amoung in the counter. That's it !! you are done. Drive the vehicle without any issues in Tamilnadu

Refund Process :

Step 1 : Once your loan is cleared, get NOC from Pune RTO submit the same in Chennai RTO for new Registration #.

Step 2 : Once you get your TN registration #, submit the documents in Pune RTO for refund

Happy Driving !!

Hi
I am getting transferred from Mumbai to Chennai in the same company.

I have Alto Car under MH 02 registration. I will be permanently staying in chennai hereinafter. Car is under Kotak Mahindra loan and it crossed 3 year out of 5 years tunure

After going through the various conversation, i understood that

1. I have to take NOC from Kotak Mahindra first. Then take vehicle to Chennai RTO to do the process of paying Road Tax.
2. The after loan completion in 2016, apply for NOC with RTO Andheri (Mumbai)
3. Based on NOC, apply for TN registration.
4. Simultaneously apply for refund of Road Tax with RTO, Andheri.
5. The Basic Value of the Car is Rs.2.6 L when i purchased in Nov 2011. Please let me the road tax amount in TN considering the depreciation as of now.

Is the above step are correct, or i missed any point,

Is there any entry tax to be paid in TN state?

Please advise

Regards

Slight modifying the process as referred by you :-

> Apply State Transfer NOC first with Kotak Mahindra Bank

> Next is to apply for NOC Simultaneously from Mumbai RTO for re-registration to Chennai along with Form 27, 28 -
Refer :- InterState Transfer to Mumbai. You do not need to wait for loan completion for registration

> Apply for TN Registration - by paying road tax and submitting inter state transfer NOC

> Once vehicle registered in Chennai - Apply for refund of road tax as originally paid in Mumbai on pro rata basis, Refer :- Refund Process
