hi

i have a santro zing 2004 model. i am having a problem with my car. whenever i run with full AC for around 15 to 20 kms distance my car start jerking and its losing power and after sometimes the car stops and this happens only during day time when the weather is hot outside, night it works fine.

I checked the heat gauge and seems pretty normal. so i open the bonnet and keep it there for some time. this issue happens only when i am driving with AC. i thought its a problem with coolant so i changed the coolant but still the issue is not gone. i even went to Hyundai service center couple of times but they coudnt find what the problem really is. can someone please tell me what could be the problem with my car?

Hello,

As the issue referred only happening with Car AC on and particularly when temperature levels are high, it could likely be Low on AC Refrigerant. While the temperature at its peak, low refrigerant simultaneously puts load on AC Compressor to heaten up and causing jerk. Also the Cooling Coils may be full of dirt and when temperature rises - it puts a strain on cooling system due to dirt coils

Also along with adding up AC Gas Refrigerant do check for replacement of AC Compressor Oil - The purpose of compressor oil is to lubricate and cool the moving parts of the compressor. It seems that the car may also be low on compressor oil and should this be replaced while changing AC refrigerant

May work up in resolving the issue.

Hi,

Ac refrigrent and compressor oil and coolamt were changed last week. Is this something relared to termostat or compressor. I have given the car today to mahindra fisrt choice as per them there is no problem with the car. So i have asked them to go for a test drive.

Hello,

If the issue is not resolved after changing AC refrigerant, compressor oil - then yes may probably related to an issue with compressor
If thermostat is faulty - it would have overheated the engine and instead of jerks - car would have stopped due to overheat

Mahindra first choice checked and said there is no problem with the car. I guess they were not able to figure out the problem. If its compressor problem AC should not work right? For around 20-25 km car work perfectly in Full AC. And after that when i change gear it starts to jerk and lose power And after some time it stalls. When i open the bonnnet everything is very hot. Not sure what to do now

I too having same jerking and power loss problem when AC is switched on for an hour or so with my Santro Zipdrive of 2001 model. I believe this problem started when I went on using the AC while on long drive unknowingly while there was no water in Radiator due to faulty radiator cap.

I had the same problem with my Santro. After driving for long or driving with AC car use to jerk and stop. I could able to start after 20 to 30 mins. The problem was due to fuel pump. After replacing the fuel pump the problem solved. It costed me around 5K
