Ford Motor to Stop Car Production in Australia

Heavy Costs and Low Volumes has led the Leading International Automobile Major Ford Motors to stop Production and exit Australian Car Market


Ford Australia to Shut Plants

Ford Australia has been struggling for loss on piling inventories, mounting costs and declining sales offlate in Australian car market. This has led company taking hard decision to shut down its plants in next 3 yrs and exit from Australian market completely and will only act as 'import only brand'' from 2016 June in Australia.


Almost after 88 yrs of presence in Australia and establishing over 200 Dealers in Australia,  Ford Motors has taken this hard call after bearing loss in excess of over 600 Mn $ in last 5 yrs. Add on to woes, the company has suffered loss of over 140 Mn $ in last FY itself, sales of its flagship model Ford Falcon has also hit an all time low.


Ford Australia is selling range of Cars, SUVs and Commercial Vehicles in Australia :-

Cars - Ford Fiesta Hatch, Ford Focus, Mondeo and flagship model Falcon

SUV - Territory, Kuga

Commercial - Ranger, Transit and Falcon


As per statement by Spokesperson of Ford Australia, Bob Graziano said the costs of manufacturing cars in Australia was un-competitive and manufacturing is not viable for Ford in long term, especially the recent losses are mounting up.


Ford has only sold 90,000 cars in 2012 . Its flagship model Falcon and Focus are overtaken by competitors in sales... Hyundai and Mazda beating Ford sales month on month and even Nissan growing fast than negative sales of Ford.  Ford Falcon had hit a rock bottom sales of 717 units, its worst sales since the launch and has made company announcing exit by closing its plants and operations in next 3 yrs.
