Kia Seltos may be an excellent vehicle when look on basis

  • Engine Refinement in 1.5 Litre Petrol, Diesel complying to latest BS6 Emission Standards
  • Good Space, Styling with Advanced 10.25 Inch Touchscreen System with Uvo Connect
  • Host of Advanced Safety with 6 Airbags, ESP, All 4 Disc Brake, Blind Spot Assist 
  • Drives well as Urban SUV and also comes with Performance oriented 7 Speed DCT in 1.4 Turbo Petrol

The car yes is on buyer radar, but as the sales going - some of the owners seems not very happy with Kia Seltos and posted problems, issues with Kia Seltos on Social Media which is collated for reference

Sahith Potu - High Transmission Temperature Warning in Kia Seltos GTX Plus Automatic

2 days back i took delivery of GTX+ DCT. Yesterday i was stuck an hour in the bumper to bumper traffic, I already got a High transmission temperature warning.

Apart from this issue it is an amazing car to drive. So smooth and comfortable.

Update: I just visited the KIA service center Nagole, Service manager and their technicians took time and clearly explained how to drive a DCT, it is simple. Always shift to Neutral whenever possible in heavy traffic like near jams and traffic signals, that will decrease the pressure on the transmission. And make sure to press the brake fully in the stop and go traffic whenever needed.

I am yet to test these points in heavy traffic.


 

Mayank Jain - Kia Seltos Instrument Cluster Warning

My Kia Seltos instrument cluster stops working while driving and all meters and light shut down. 

Do note that my vehicle is starting properly. If it might have a battery issue then there should be some starting trouble also. The Car Ignition is on, Music System is on, indicators working but only Instrument cluster is not working

My name is Tushar Taunk, I'm from Raipur C.G. I have a strong issue regarding Kia's vehicle delivery protocol. Me and my cousin Tejash Taunk did two bookings in the month of July for GTX+ Diesel AT variant one in white and mine in the black colour, by paying Rs. 25000 each. We booked our cars from Sairam Wheels, Tatibandh, Raipur C.G. Below are our costumer id.

Tejash is 1st on the waiting list and I being 5th for the given variant as confirmed by the showroom people. We asked for a written confirmation for the delivery schedule, the showroom guys said not to worry about anything. Tejash is the first who will receive this variant and so will I on 5th place when the lot arrives with the black car. Their word gave us a peace of mind.

We're now waiting for our cars for more than 3 months, 94 days to be precise and still counting.
What shocked and disappointed us is when we got to know that GTX+ D AT White came and was delivered to someone else, and then we found out that this person is close to MD of the showroom.

Now we don't know how close is his relationship is with the MD or how they benefit each other that they did something like this. Untill now we were worry free even though there was no commitment for the delivery dates. Later we also found out that one balck car also got delivered of the same varient we booked, we're trying to find out more details about it.

Now you can understand our problem better, I had to write this long enough. I request kia officials if they're reading this to take some action against the staff working in Kia Sairam wheels, Raipur and let us know when our car will arrive and also that our car won't be delivered to someone else who has a bigger approach or more money in their pocket.

Kia India should build a good reputation and should begin their work with propriety. First come first serve basis is the protocol they should follow. Please do not make this happen again. As a costumer we want to maintain a good relationship with you.


 

Abhishek Jain - Kia Seltos Breakdown (Update: Not a problem with car, but due to Fuel Adulteration by Petrol Pump)

Kia Seltos Breakdown within 15 Days. Stranded on road at 3 am in Night. Vehicle was Towed to Service Center

Fuel Tank was Half, as per owner the car was not starting despite cranking the Engine Multiple times. Last update as per owner even after 24 Hours -  company not been able to diagnose the issue till time in this 15 day Old Vehicle.

Update by Owner: Result as Fuel Adulteration, Changed all fuel system.
Service from Sparsh kia moti nagar handled by mr gurpreet sing and vaibhav very well got my car back. Thank you.
Guys be careful from where you getting diesel refuel done because fuel adulteration will be problem.


 

Vilas Naik - Kia Seltos Automatic Low Mileage, Heating up Issue

Alert, Kia seltos 7 Speed DCT GTX Plus Automatic getting hot within 3 km from starting. if in city traffic, to put on parking mode or in neutral or not practical, in bumper to bumper moving traffic.

This is very serious and should be sorted properly. We selected automatic kia to face city traffic and everyone is disappointing on temperature issue. See Instrument Cluster as 3km. 38 minutes, 3.9 Kmpl petrol average

Raj Verma - I too got the same problem. Infotainment system got hanged, later it was ok. They said we will update d app in 1st servicing, but the problem is still the same, still hangs after updating

Vikram Waghmare: Same issue here, after an hour. When restarted the car twice it worked fine.

Got the vehicle towed and found out that it was due to a faulty actuator, and it would take several weeks if not longer to get it repaired.

Hi All, I purchased Kia Seltos HTX 1.5 Petrol MT, have done 18k KM, I do not get impress on power aspect as it is not fun to drive and throttle response is low, with small Inclinations it will slow down drastically, if I have to foresee and claim flyover I need to be mentally prepare to rev the engine, I looked for turbo retrofit setup, it is very complicated, now am hunting for hybrid retrofit kits and approaching big companies like Bosch, Cummins and Greaves, but no luck so far, hybrid retrofit kit for petrol NA engine will be added advantage as there will be increase in Horse power and torque to marginal extent, which should solve this pickup and gear to gear issue.
It has many positive aspects from Kia, the driving dynamics, high speed stability and braking prowess are TOP NOTCH with all wheel disc is a major plus point, the engine is very silent and gives me a decent mileage of 15 plus on highways with constant higher speeds in cruise mode..Trust me if you have a stretch of 100 kms average traffic drive with 120 kms speed with cruise on, I will get nearing 16.5 to 17 kmph with Auto AC and 2 occupants, cornering stability with stock tyres are very supportive, in case if you have Michelin or Yokohama tyres of India make, you would love the drive in all aspects at high speeds, at one instance I was at 140 Hyd to Bng return, suddenly a truck captured my path, I just applied the brake in normal sense without panic, it gave me a strong confidence of mannerisms and have encountered such trespassing few more times, braking prowess never let me down.
Finally, I admire each aspect and features of the seltos, the cabin is silent, except bad roads, its slightly bumpy and light cabin noise (Later I insulated the car), AC is quite good, Music system is more than sufficient, no need of components if doors are insulated, only concern is Pickup, if Kia provides hybrid retrofit kits to existing customers at a price point, Seltos will create a strong benchmark in Indian Auto industry atleast for a decade.

I submitted a Seltos to Celica KIA Motors Service centre and for last 22 days, I have been waiting for a silencer to arrive by transport. KIA is focusing on sales only and its service is awful. I have had many cars in my life and have never endured such a bad service. Most of the service parts (even clamps and nuts) are not available at the service centre.

Guys, had a serious problem with my seltos (Gtx+ Manual) yesterday. We were on our way to a temple but unfortunately stuck in a bumper-bumper traffic for around 40 minutes last night, i noticed excessive smoke coming out from the hood. There was no warning or errors in the instrument cluster. Being panic, I immediately pulled over to the side, opened up the hood and noticed the smoke was not from the engine but from the right hand side below the engine. Because the smoke was so intense as well as suffocating, i left the hood open to cool down the car and called up my service advisor. He said that this could be due to the overheating of the clutches because I was constantly driving on first gear!! Moreover, this could also happen when you "ride the clutch" , according to him. Anyway, after around 3 hours of waiting to cool everything down and let the traffic ease, I started the engine again and drove home which is around13 kms away from where I had stopped, without experiencing any other disaster.

Now, tell me guys, is this normal? To me, this is very strange and unexpected, especially from a premium car at this price. Before Seltos, I was driving a Honda and had come across many auch situations but didn't even had a single point of failure. What you guys suggest? Raise an official complaint with Kia or let go as per the advise from my service guy? He said you don't even need to visit the service center for this which, to me, sounds silly and stupid. My car is only 5600 kms driven and the issue that I experienced last night, felt like I was driving a 200,000 kms driven car!! There must be something burned out here and I don't know the amount of wear & tear and the current condition of the clutch caused by the incident. Having said that, the clutch (and the car) was behaving totally normal while I was driving back home last night and this morning's short trip.

From what I can see, what the dealer says makes sense. This is actually explained really well on one of the Kia videos about the dual clutch system. I also recommend you look up "Hyundai dual clutch transmission" on YouTube. They explain how this system works. It is actually not an automatic transmission. It is a "manual" transmission with servos which make the gear changes. This system uses two clutches to make the gear shifts more smooth.
This system offers several advantages in terms of efficiency and power, but has the downside of heating up in certain situations like the one you describe.
I hope your dealer's suggestion works for you from now on.

I have bought Kia seltos htk automatic version 3 days back, it suddenly didn't start , it's start button was unable to start it,it was a great shock to me as I bought it with my hard money and I have a very strong trust to this brand, have contacted the dealer who gave me the customer care number,I contacted them, they came and tried to jump start it but they failed,then they tow it to the service station, let's see when I will get my car back,but I really didn't expect with this brand

Seltos has started giving trouble within a month of its purchase. Engine warning light came on 3 days back with the message that there is an issue with the emission system. Got it checked at Kia Service and they told that the issue had been fixed by updating the software etc. Issue was due to BS6 engine running on BS 4 fuel. Again got the same problem 2 days later
Again back to Service Center where they are saying that problem has been fixed. The filter got choked and has been cleaned.

This was known to the company already that the available fuel in India is presently BS 4 and still it wasnt fixed.

On my discussion with folks in Kia Service centers and looking at some videos from Australia, this problem can be sorted out by taking the vehicle on a long drive. Drive it for 20 mins continuous at 90kmph. This will regenerate the DPF filter passively. Please try and let me know.

I have the same Problem with Engine warning light glowing. After a week of Service the symbol appeared again and they replaced the sensor. It was fine for about a week, and now the Engine Symbol is On again, and it gave an error as an issue with Emission system. They have called me to the Service Center again for checkup. Looks like the problem is occurring for many of the customers. I have a HTX IVT variant.

First attempt to fix the problem was not successful. Was asked by the dealer to delete the UVO app on the phone and reload it. Still same error message. Sent them snapshot copy of the error message. Waiting for KIA corporate to get back to me as to how to fix the problem.

I have made "N"numbers of complaint to KIA India through phone regarding non working of my UVO App.

On 30/10/2019. I received a call from KIA India that our server has been updated and after rebooting your infotainment by pressing the button on the right hand side of the system you will not face any complaints regarding this. I happily did it as an obedient customer. But after few minutes later I again faced the same problem. I again called your customer care and he again assured me that technical team will assist you. But again no one contacted me ( it shows unprofessionalism of KIA India and how much KIA India respects its existing customer)

After that I again contacted your customer care and again Mr. Neeraj assured me that this issue will be resolve today evening i.e upto 02-11-2019. And my wildest dream comes true no one contacted me regarding this. So I request KIA India to return my money or resolve this issue as soon as possible because it causes mental agony to me, that after spending so much of money. I'm not getting the legitimate services which KIA India promised me during taking delivery of my car.
