Maruti Ertiga Official Review: A Value buy 7 Seater MPV Car in India

Maruti Ertiga Official Review with Space and Comfort Explained for 3rd Row, Engine Performance, Mileage, Steering Dynamics, Suspension, Features, Interiors, Exteriors Highlighted

Maruti Ertiga Official Review

Maruti Suzuki has launched new Gen Ertiga in Indian Market with lot of enhancements and improvements over Previous Gen Ertiga.

Some of the key changes

» Platform, Space: All New Heartect Chassis Platform, which leads to lot more improved cabin space, especially the 3rd row seats now seems lot better for 2 adults with height of 5’7” or growing up teenagers. The flexibility of recline option in 3rd row with bottle holder along with flexibility of recline and slide option in 2nd Row makes Ertiga a Family Car for 7 Members

» Boot: The Boot Space is also a welcome improvement to 209 Litre. Add on again the flexibility of 50:50 Split 3rd row seats and 60:40 Split 2nd Row Seats - one can just customize the car for luggage on Long trips

» New Engine: Another welcome change is new 1.5 Litre K15 Petrol Engine with 104 BHP Power and 138 NM Torque. Its a smart hybrid. Although this engine is slight more powerful than the previous K14 Engine - but in real world the performance seems more towards people who drive in cars with relaxed manner.

Overall Impressions of New 2nd Gen Ertiga 2018

Engine Performance, Drive, Handling: Tuned for Buyers who love relaxed drive, comfort drive, linear pick up. The performance feels flatten up in Mid range from 40 Kmph to 80 Kmph Speed. Reason - its a heavier car with kerb weight is around 10% higher than Ciaz Petrol. One really need to press throttle to maximum or downshift gear to extract the power. A person who loves power pep, enthusiast drive may not like the Power pickup.

But for some one seeking a People carrier car yet with relaxed and comfort oriented drive can certainly found no faults in it. In terms of Clutch - its not very light. But still feels manageable. There is footrest on driver side for comfort of left foot. Gear Shift are sleek and can easily slot in.

However the best part is Flat Bottom Steering and Braking effectiveness. Although the turning radius is 5.2 m - but the car steering can be boon for those who love light steering which easily firms up on higher speed. In terms of braking - despite of brake drum on rear - the braking effectiveness seems top notch by any standard. It just stops with effectiveness.

The Visibility is reasonably good and the car suspension seems well tuned. In overall drive, handling feel - leaving aside for anyone whose requirement is fun to drive experience - its a car which will please in mass market with overall drive, steering, braking, pickup factor.

If considering Diesel - then Ertiga diesel coms with 1.3 DDIS Diesel Engine - the Engine NVH Levels are on higher side. Our recommendation would be to check out Mahindra Marazzo Diesel in that case offering relative good value proposition with a lot improved 1.5 Litre Diesel Engine.

Interiors, Exteriors: Lot better with Chrome Slants on Front Grille (except Lxi, Ldi), Projector Headlights, Side design seems inspired from Innova with a bigger car feel, rear LED Tail Lights and design seems much better and the car definite looks more striking in styling

In Interiors - Dual Tone Beige and Black Interiors with Wood Finish on Dash (except Lxi, Ldi), Touchscreen System on vxi, Zxi and Smart Play Touchscreen on Zxi Plus with Flat Bottom Steering, TFT Instrument cluster with Graphics and color display (color display in Petrol Model), Good Fabric Seats all makes Ertiga feel a reasonable premium car in Styling

Considering price point at which New Ertiga is available - it can be a reasonable good choice for buyer in overall interiors and exteriors.

Features : ABS, EBD and Dual Airbags as Standard. Even in terms of convenience, Electric Power Steering, All 4 Power Window and Manual Central Lock are base standard. In Styling - Projector Headlights are standard. There are- good features list been spread across model Variant

Safety: There are beep alert system with single beep above 80 Kmph Speed and Multiple beep above 120 Kmph Speed. Safety of ABS, EBD and dual Airbags as standard. Build seems reasonably good and door yes feels more sturdy as against the doors seen in Maruti Hatchback Range. Although Global NCAP Crash test not done of New Gen Ertiga but expect 3 Star to 4 Star Safety with the car.

Reliability, Mileage, Maintenance: Been Maruti Suzuki tag name is associated with Ertiga - expect top notch reliability with the car. Although its a Smart Hybrid system where there is Lithium Ion Battery added and car engine shuts off on red light, and when clutch pressed it comes to action but due to heavier Kerb weight if one expect Top Notch Mileage then can be slight mistaken. Anything around 11 to 11.5 Kmpl should be considered a reasonable mileage in city and anything around 15 to 16 Kmpl should be a reasonable expectation in City Condition

Overall Recommendation: Reasonable Value Buy as 7 Seater Car. Worth to Buy Petrol Ertiga
