Car Models to be Discontinued in 2019, 2020

Passenger Car Market is ever revolving with an attempt done by Car Manufacturers for making Products based on changing Need and Demand

Consumers in India are eyeing on Cars

» Which are Stylish

» Loaded with Features

» Good Aesthetics, Design

» A Segment of Buyers seeking Fully Loaded Safety Specs

Also - a Package Offering with Correct Pricing, Engine Performance and Good Enough Promotion is what need to make a car a success

Starting January 2019 - Honda Brio, Tata Nano, Nissan Terrano, Hyundai Eon are discontinued. Due to

» BS-6 Norms getting Mandatory from April 2020

» All New BNVSAP (Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program)

Below is List of 15 Models which can likely be discontinued from March 2019 to March 2020 in next 1 year

» Fiat India Punto, Avventura, Linea: Fiat Entire Line up of Punto, Avventura, Linea can have the last laugh in 2019. Sales of FCA as Manufacturer other than Jeep Compass line up has fallen down to all time lows. It can just end the Fiat Brand and the future of FCA would be Jeep brand in 2020 Onwards

» Honda BRV: Honda Brio based platform is also used in 7 Seater car BRV and is facing tough time despite offering in over Rs 1 Lakh discount in 2019 - the sales is no where a competition to Hyundai Creta or 7 Seater Cars like Ertiga. Been just able to sell in triple digits - it seems Brio based platform would likely be completely axed before March 2020 in India

» Mahindra NuvoSport - Mahindra has rebranded Quanto with some styling changes, new Features, Engine as used in other cars and branded Quanto with new name as NuvoSport - but Indian consumers has outright rejected the model with NuvoSport sales failed within 6 months to sub 250 units and now at end of its 2nd year slipped down to sales of 10 to 20 cars a month. Likely be discontinued in 2018

» Mahindra Xylo - Launched in 2009, the MPV was initial success, but later on with limited updates, outdated 2.5 Litre Engine and consumers preference towards Stylish vehicles has led sales of Xylo falling to Sub 500 units. Its expected that Mahindra will likely discontinue Xylo in 2018 and may launch in all New TUV500 (as longer wheelbase version of TUV300) with a proper 7 Seater Space

» Tata Zest - Tata Tigor has completely over shadowed Zest. In all recent campaigns - Tata Motors highlighting Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Harrier and Hexa. Seems nothing left for Zest to continue post 2020 Aprll

» Tata Bolt - Tata Bolt seems the Odd one out after launch of Tiago, Tigor in its similar Price Segment. Even Zest and Nexon are available for those who looking for something better than Tata Bolt. With Bolt Sales at just 200 units on an average and no promotions from Tata Motors in Print Media Campaigns or TV Campaign - one can see in Bolt getting discontinued in 2018

» Tata Safari Storme - Post introduction of Hexa, Harrier and upcoming Harrier 7 Seater by end of 2019 this would just end Safari Storme era when BS-6 will emerge as standard in India

» Tata Sumo Gold - Although a choice in Semi Urban market but Tata Motors focus shifted on new age products and this can just be end of Sumo Gold too

» Maruti Omni - Maruti Suzuki to likely not continue Omni in 2020. The design of car is such as there seems little room for Manufacturer to upgrade car to meet in upcoming Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program. However, Eeco would be upgraded in and can appear as perfect replacement of Omni

» Mahindra Verito and Verito Vibe - Mahindra is known for SUV Segment Cars and Verito along with Verito based Hatchback Verito Vibe has no takers as of now

» Toyota Etios Liva - Toyota Etios is there in Indian market for close to 8 years now, but despite of Hatchback positioned in fastest growing segment - the sales numbers are not impressive  With upcoming cross badged Toyota Baleno - seems little room for Toyota to upgrade Etios Liva engine to BS6

» Toyota Etios Cross - The Crossover Version of Etios Liva is also not in limelight especially the fact that new Cross Cars are tuned in Suspension with even more premium appeal, styling, features and better value can possibly end up Etios Cross too with Etios and Liva before 2020 begins.

» Maruti Gypsy - This could just be the end of Oldest yet a SUV which has not got a New Generation or Facelift for longest time from Maruti Suzuki across its model portfolio. This could be end of road for Maruti Suzuki Gypsy before 2020 begins, as 1.3 Litre Petrol Engine is not used in any other Models except Gypsy and possibly upcoming Maruti Jimny could be replacement of Gypsy

» Volkswagen Ameo - Volkswagen Ameo when launched was pitched by Volkswagen India to compete against Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze, but as per media report Ameo in actual has cannibalized sales of Volkswagen Polo and Vento. It can just end Ameo by 2020 when VW plan to launch in upgraded MQB Platform in Polo and Vento in 2020

» Renault Lodgy - Renault Lodgy sales fell to all time low of double digit with last 6 month average sales is not even 50 units. Post New Generation Ertiga Launched in India as spacious 7 Seater MPV and despite of steep discounts to extent of Rs 1.5 Lakh on previous year stock - it can just be the end of Renault Lodgy in Indian Market by end of 2019
