Lok Sabha in India has 545 Seats (including 2 nominated members of President) in which there are several allies and parties, who form there coalition to show there strength and majority to be either as part of Government or Opposition. Members in Lok Sabha are selected through General Elections held in India. The Members could be part of a regional or national party who then form coalition to form up Government or opposition front

The Legislative and Policy decision (except Money Matters) are taken up in Lok Sabha

> UPA - United Progressive Alliance :- Center Left Wing and represent Congress and its allies parties

> NDA - National Democratic Front :- Center Right Wing and represent BJP and its allies parties

> Third Front - Its a alliance of regional parties in India who are separate from Congress and BJP

> Democratic Front :- Its alliance of regional parties of State Kerala.

> Fourth Front - Combination of 2 parties - Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janta Dal


Major Political Parties in India

As per Results in Previous Elections in India, there are 2 major Political Parties commanding over 100 seats :-

a) Indian National Congress

b) BJP (Bhartiya Janta Party)

Other major political parties (having > 10 seats) :- Janata Dal, Shiv Sena, BSP, CPI M, Trinamool Congress, DMK, Samajwadi Party, Biju Janata Dal and has coalition with smaller political parties or with National Parties of Congress and BJP to form up :- UPA, NDA, Third Front, UDF, Forth Front or Independent members

The Major Allies who have joined together to form up government and opposition members in the previous election :-

- UPA Alliance :- Congress (203 members) with support of Trinamool Congress (led by Mamta Banerjee) - 19 seats , DMK (M Karunanidhi) - 18 seats , NCP (Sharad Pawar) - 9 Seats and other allies form part of Government in 2009 Elections. G

- NDA Alliance :- BJP (115 members) with Janta Dal (Vashist Narayan Singh) - 20 Seats, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) - 11 Seats and other parties form part of opposition in 2009 Elections

- Third Front :- BSP (21 Members), CPI M (15 Members), Biju Janata Dal (14 Members) and other allies members form part of Third Front

- Maharastra - 48 Seats

- Andhra, West Bengal - 42 seats each

- Bihar - 40 Seats

- Tamil Nadu - 39 Seats

- MP - 29, Karnataka - 28 Seats, Gujarat - 26 Seats, Rajasthan - 25 Seats, Orissa - 21 Seats, Kerala - 20

- Assam - 14, Jharkhand - 14, Punjab - 13, Chhattisgarh - 11, Haryana - 10 Seats

- Other States and Union Territories have less than 10 Seats . Delhi the capital has 7 Seats
