Diwali Significance in India (Very Auspicious Days)

With Diwali in November - know Significance of Diwali Days

Dhanteras - Celebrating Wealth and is the best day of the year to buy metals - Gold, Silver, Steel. Teras implies 13th day. Dhanteras is always celebrated on 13 day of Ashwin month

Chhoti Diwali / Kali Chaudas - Chaudas in hindi date calender implies 14th. On 14th day of Ashwin month, Goddess Kali has killed a powerful asura. Also popular as Naraka Chaturdashi where Lord Krishna has taken away life of Narakasura

Diwali / Deepawali - Festival of lights which is celebrated on return of Lord Rama after victory over Ravana. Celebrated on 15th Day of Ashwin month where always there is no moon and is also called Amaavas ki Raat in India. On this day, when Lord Rama came back it was all dark and people of Ayodhaya has lighted through diyas the entire city in such a way as it becomes full moon night (Poornima). Shradh Dates in 2019 : 13th September - 28th September 2019

Shradh is a period of 15 days where rituals are carried by Hindu Family to offer homage to the ancestors and dead members of the family. Here - the Hindu family remembers the ancestors and offers puja and gives daan to offer respect and peace to the soul of deceased member of the family

Shradh Period been related to the death rites and hence new purchases or new business dealings are generally avoided during the said period.

Pitru Paksha Shrad

Pitru Paksha Shrad implies Shrad rituals for deceased father, deceased grand father and deceased great grand father where the eldest son of the deceased father or deceased grand father pays does puja and pays homage to offer to the soul.


Shradh Rituals

On day of Shradh - The Eldest male member of the family takes an early morning bath, wear new clean white clothes , does pind daan and takes Sankalp. Brahmins and Priest are been called to give Brahmin Bhoj or food been sent to Mandir on the day of Shradh. Also, food been given to cow / dog as cow / dog is a sacred animal as per Hindu Mythology. Food can well be given to poor.

Its a belief that whatever food been offered to Brahmins, cow and dog are been offered to the ancestors through this medium. The positive vibes created by all this reaches the ancestors. The respect and puja gives there soul a peace and helps in nullifying any sins carried out by family members and get blessings from the deceased ancestors of the family.

Rahu Kaal:- Avoid taking Delivery During Rahu Kaal considered superstitious period. Also Rahu-Kaal Period happens every day, 365 days for 90 minutes.

The Timings of Rahu Kaal on different days of the week are  (based in Delhi, to vary by 30 to 45 minutes in other cities) :-
